Someone would need to measure it up, but I reckon if you cut it right it might line up. Problem may be the curvature for the top of the door windows.

member chewy on here is making a 2+2 slicktop. He was doing some amazing stuff replacing the weak chassis rails and welding up the roof but all the photos went down in his build thread.

    Wish I saved some.

Yes, he was building the roof from scratch though. I reckon a 2+0 slicktop roof, cut in the right place, would go close to fitting a 2+2.

Horray, race Z, hope you earn us some pedigree! I always forget you're on stock turbos, tend to assume you have 2560s or something.

Just having a look at the race calendar and like the NSCC days the Wakefield day manages to be on a family member's birthday, damn family. Hopefully manage to come up anyway and marvel at your work.

Quick update. Made it down to WP two weeks ago for a test day. Hadn't driven the car on track for over a year, and first time on track since the cage was installed.

Overall the day went well, everything working, no major issues, managed nearly a full second off my previous best time, ended with a 1:10 flat, but disappointed also as I should have been well into the low 9's or even 8's except for oversteer and unexpected rev cut.

The oversteer should be fairly easy to fix with some rear camber and smaller rear sway bar. Was OK in the higher speed corners but had no grip in and coming out of the hairpin.

Rev cut is a bit of a bigger mystery. From the start I had rev cut on the main straight in third gear at around 6500rpm all day, so having to change to 4th early. Worse though was intermittent rev cut on the back straight in 3rd at around 5500rpm. I'm still running stock injectors and ecu. No idea what the problem is yet, will post a separate thread in the tech section once I've had a chance to review the ecutalk logs, but was a serious pita! Was revving to 7000+ in second. I reckon this alone was costing me a second on my lap times.

Have been very busy since with my long list of things to do before Bathurst.

Hoping to be at Eastern Creek for another test day on Friday, March 31.

You may have encountered the factory fuel cut -check your AFM values in the logs

How did you go at the creek? I was actually going to go as well to test the new engine before the nissan nationals but had to work at the last minute.

Bit of a scrappy day to be honest. Still got a lot of issues to sort out. Only ended up making it out on track for 3 sessions and didn't get to test half of what I'd planned to. Lap times are about 5 seconds off where they should be :(

But was still fun to drive and can feel the potential :)

Was a good day to do to get some track time on a faster circuit before Bathurst :br:

    Time for some updates :)

For those who missed it, I debuted the race car at Bathurst earlier in the year. Car wasn't ready, had handling and ecu rev cut issues, but I'd paid my money and it was Bathurst, so no way we weren't going :)

Sorted out the handling issues in the first practice session, but wasn't able to sort the rev cut issues, so was only able to rev to around 4500rpm in fifth down Conrod, but still managed a PB of 2:37.5 :) Shows big potential for next year.

Anyway full details on Bathurst at the following thread, including video :)

Finally finished installing my Sard 650cc injectors a couple of weeks ago. Also updated the ECU with Nistune for injector adjustment and tuning, and to remove the annoying rev cut I experienced at Bathurst.

Took it to the dyno last night, managed around 320rwkw on 98, and 355rwkw on E85, at just under 19psi boost.

Very happy with this result. Goal was around 340 (aka 450hp), and it did 355 easily, so stopped there. 480hp will be plenty :)

OK time for an update :)

So after success on the dyno off I went to Eastern Creek for a test day at the start of October.

First session out I set the boost at 17psi and was really just getting a feel for the car again, checking gauges, confirming all was OK etc.

Second session out I turned the boost up to 19psi and after a couple of laps was starting to push it, only to have a big spin as I turned in under brakes on turn 4. Recovered and drove back to the pits, everything seemed fine, oil pressure was fine. I had noticed a puff of smoke coming out of turn 8 on the previous lap, but all the gauges were OK and didn't notice any loss of power or anything so decided to keep going.

Got it back in the garage and got out, noticed oil dripping on the floor :(

Put it up on stands, oil all down the passenger under side of the car, initially thought it was my power steering let go (my electric power steering is mounted where the battery goes) but further investigation found this!

Popped out the press in fitting for the PCV that I have blocked off with a rubber block off thingy!

So that was my day done and a big spanner in my 'testing program'! Still could have been worse, that puff of smoke I saw was most likely a splash of oil on the passenger side turbo! Very lucky she didn't light up!!

So engine out time. Rocker cover off and fix this problem once and for all.

Also noticed the engine mounts probably due for replacing

In went my BDE engine mounts I'd had in my cupboard for 2 years!

Flywheel and pressure plate were pretty badly worn, so got the flywheel machined and installed my (almost new) spare clutch.

Tidied up a few hoses, heli-coiled a few threads on the lower and upper plenums, replaced the steering rack bushes with some new poly bushes, general tidy up and back in went the engine.

Nearly two months and it was back running again!

So what caused the original blow out of the PCV fitting? These are pressed in, but they're not in their loose. I also had over a litre of oil in the catch can when I checked it before removing the engine, where I've never had a drop in it before.

This is the original factory engine, and compression although even across all cylinders, is on the lower side of the acceptable range according to the FSM. So I think condition of the rings, coupled with the 19psi boost, and running E85 (which apparently tends to 'wash' the bores more so than 98) just tipped the limit and resulted in blow by and pressure in the sump and up into the rocker covers, enough to dislodge the PCV fitting and pump a litre or so out to the catch can.

This is just a theory but I couldn't find anything else wrong so I can only assume this was the issue.

So with the engine back in off I went to Wakefield Park for a test day.

Monday, December 18, last available track day for the year at SMSP or WP, and the hottest day of the year so far!

And I only just had it back together in time as it was. I had planned to go to SMSP the week earlier.

Anyway got down to WP, ran it at 17psi all day, other than running very hot (don't ask!), the car ran perfectly all day, not a single drop of oil in the catch can, all gauges and logs healthy, handling really well, brakes near perfect (I'd spent an afternoon indexing the front brake rotors before EC in October, and also fitted new rear rotors).

So with the car running well, I did my best to ignore the temp gauges, and just kept pushing faster every session.

It was a very busy day so we only got 12mins sessions, and with testing and reviewing logs I missed 2 of the 6 sessions available, so was mildly happy to do a 1:06.5 in the final session :D

Definitely starting to show her potential now! Was definitely a 1:05 in it if I'd had another session. And maybe even a 1:04 if it wasn't so bloody hot lol!

That's an awesome time, great work man. Do you have a target time to be competitive in your class/bracket?

Thanks Fists, a 1:06 puts me in Class B, but the cut off time for Class B is 1:03, so I've still got a bit of work to do to be right at the pointy end in Class. I don't think I'll get there on 17psi and used tyres :(

If I can get into the 1:04's I'll be happy :)
