That's why it says T56. I.E. Tremec T56 Transmission. 6 speed box from latest holden, corvettes, camaro's etc.

You didn't question why you could do a theoretical top speed of 476km/h when making your post?

    Put your feet up Dougie......

    Here's what you want :-
Road speed @ 5000rpm (using oem rolling circumference)

    NA Man : 194kmhr
    NA Auto : 210kmhr
    TT Man : 215kmhr
    TT Auto : 232kmhr

Now, put the Valium back in the bottle for later. :D

By those figures Baroo's zed is only 21kmhr faster than your NA @ 5K

    red32 You talkin' to me?

I LOVE it when you're wrong :bash:
Baroo has a manual TT, to my auto NA, so it's only 5 khp! Oh! It's still quicker though! Shit! That's probably why he gets to places before I do!

Thinks: What if I disable the rev-limiter? Hmmmmm! NA @ 8000rpm!

Can you post an example of your calculations, please, because I cannot, for the life of me, reconcile engine speed with road speed (I keep getting answers like 1,290kph, which would surely burn the paint off the front bar!).

jeez to think i actually went faster than 280 and got to around 290-299 is pretty amazing.. i also have 18's so my guess is it could've put it out by around 5-10km..
these zeds are wonderfull machines.. cant think of any other 17 yo car that can do these speeds for such little coin

    My apologies Doug......

I thought you drove a sports car

Below is the maths using Baroo's "sports car" as an example, if you wish to get results for your limousine you'll have to substitute the appropriate numbers :D

((rpm divided by gear ratio) divided by diff ratio) x 60 x (tyre circumference divided by 1,000,000)

    ((5000/0.752)/3.692) x 60 x (1983.6/1,000,000)

    (6648.94/3.692) x 60 x (0.001983.6)

    =214.33kmhr

You might be able to keep up with Baroo if he refits his "Coonabarabran wheel"

    What's the "60" and the "1M" for?

AS to the "sports car", I do drive one, it's just a little slower than some (but at least it doesn't sTTuTTer!:).

The "Coona" wheel was broken, which, when we put on the spare, limited him to 80kph! Oh! I see what you mean. Bastard!

Seriously, in retrospect that was scary! Just imagine the potential catastrophe which may have occurred while overtaking a pair of B-doubles, which we did several times, quite exuberantly

    Mathematics.....

60 is the multiplier for rpm (minutes) to hours and the 1M denominator is to change circumference cms to metres and metres per kilometre.

Your lucky you caught me on a day when the Alzheimers hasn't kicked in

Baroo certainly had the winning lotto numbers that weekend, even extended to that local zed owner lending him a wheel for the trip home.

Highest i did was 270 km/h but had to slow down because of road ending i was close to redline.

    Yeah, wasn't that brilliant....
A bit of background for those who weren't there, or who have forgotten, the lass (who owns the only Z32 in Coonabarabran) just by chance happened to call by the Motel where we were staying and where we held the Show 'n' Shine, and heard of Tim's plight (cracked wheel discovered at Dubbo, 200km from destination, that distance covered on a spare, at 80kph! (Boring)) She very generously offered one of the wheels off her car (NOT her D/D... that was a BMW 735), for Tim to get back to Melbourne on.

Probably because of the uniqueness of her car in the town, no-one had been able to service it properly, so Rob (K-Zed) and a few others gave the thing a full work-over. While this was happening, the lady in question heard of Tim's plight, and VERY generously, without having met any of us before, suggested that Tim could use one of the wheels off her Zed to get back to Melbourne. We sent it back to her with a spare Targa bag (she didn't have any), a full set of front and rear wheel-studs (when we were picking up the wheel off her car, we noticed that one of the wheel-studs had stripped) and also a set of chrome, domed wheel nuts. Very cheap price, I thought!

Just noticed, Ian and I seem to have hijacked this part of the thread. Apologies!

i hit the speed limiter as i changed into 4th in my man TT, so i got rid of it, the speed limiter that is, and i have not had a safe opportunity since then to test out my car so i havent done so

    hmmm

I hope so, or certain people will be screaming out for another laser/detector group buy when their licenses are lost after the next series of cruises (being a public forum and all)

    BTW

fastest I have gone is Warp 2, but it was a little unstable at that speed, so I had to revert to impulse power, Dam those Di-lithium crystals and QLD roads :D

the jap spec cars have a 180kmh speed limiter.

    it can be "cut" disabled.

So what bit is true ? Found this

The turbo variant was upgraded with twin Garrett turbochargers and dual intercoolers producing 300 hp (224 kW; 304 PS) and 283 lb?ft (384 N?m) of torque.[12] Performance varied from 0-60 times of 5.0-6.0 seconds depending on the source, and it had a governed top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h).
