    Gidday Guys,
I'm thinking of trading up in about 2 yrs time (Shhh... don't tell my Zed this!) from my N/A 1990 2+2 Aus Spec to a 350z Track Convertible and I want to know from those of you who have driven both, what's it like??
I'm after a dynamic comparison of the whole feel of the different vehicles not just (but including)0-100 times.
What's it like through the twisties, in the wet etc... all aspects.
    Thanks!

    350z...

Sean, in regards to handling and precision, the 350z will be better. If nothing else, its a newer car, with more tech thrown at it. And the 3.5 litre V6 is nice and smooth and more powerful than the Vg30 in your Zed.. If you can afford it though, would you consider a 370z? A newer car once again, and with a better interior than than the 350z.

I'm not writing the 300zx off, I do love them. But the 350z will be better in regards to smoothness and handling. Now, if you wanted some thing different again, would you consider a nice 300zx TT? More power than the NA, and just more fun to drive. And faster than a 350z. And if boosted, with some bolt on mods, faster than a 370z too. In a straight line at least :)

send a pm to ugame (chris) he has owned a tt 4 seater z32 and sold that to buy a 350z roadster.

he will have a good insight for you on the differences....

    Ripper...

Thanks Guys, lots of food for thought.

Getting harder to fix the older models and an Insurance writeoff can happen so easy. (My Wifes ML320 written off due to plastic bumper and tailgate peices)

I'll have to see what the prices for both models are like in 2 yrs time go from there.
I figured even the 350z would be better than a z32 NA.
    Cheers!

Wouldn't the z32 NA be as roomy as a lounge compared to the 350z upwards ? I started getting claustrophobic when I sat in a 350z, but it did remind me when I had a 260z.. Now that's a loud fun car.

If you're using the car for daily driving duties, by all means, get as new as possible, get the 350Z. Why not a trouble free hard top? That'd be my pick and try to get something a bit newer with the VQ35HR which has the bubble in the hood and xenon headlights.

If you don't plan to use this car every day and it's going to be the weekend warrior you flog once in a while, save the money and fix your NA.

    Good Advice...

    Thanks Mate!

I actually like that "tucked into the cockpit" sort of feeling.

Before I bought my Z32 Vert, I looked seriously at a Z33 Vert. I could have bought one for not much more than the Z32. Some points I considered are:
1.) Sold new in the Aussie market? Win for Z33.
2.) Newer tech? Win for the Z33.
3.) Most power? Win for the Z33.
4.) Traction control? Win for the Z33.
5.) 6 speed man vs 5 speed man? Win for the Z33.
    6.) Airbags? Win for the Z33 - 4 versus 1.
7.) Heated seats? Win for the Z33.
8.) Electric soft top? Win for the Z33 - Z32 is manual.
9.) Looks? Win for the Z32 (my opinion).
10.) Driving position? Win for the Z32 (in my opinion).
11.) Rarity? Win for the Z32.

In the end it came to why was I buying a vert? It was not going to be a daily; visually the Z32 appealed more; having co-driven a Z33 interstate and finding the Z32 to have a better driving position; and finally, I wanted something a "bit different". So then it was a case of find the best Z32 vert for me (dammit, a red one came up this year, better cond, and it sold for $9500!)

If owners emotion is removed from the argument, on a simply logical base the Z33 would be the "sensible" buy ...

if you weren't looking for a vert

    you could consider a V35 Skyline... AKA Z33 2+2

Same engine, transmission, suspension as Z33.

If the the skyline badge irks you... re badge it to an infiniti, they were sold in the US as infiniti in Japan as a Skyline.

The 35 series stagea also have the same engine/transmission as the Z33, very similar interior to a V35 skyline, one for the weekend (v35) and one for the wife (stagea)?

It really pisses me off that the 35 stagea series one had a turbo which was dropped for the series 2 and 3. The series 2/3 much better build quality just no turbo option. Stagea are available in 2 or 4 wheel drive... wish I could convert my V35 series 3 coupe into a 4WD with stagea gear... and if i was even richer rebuild the engine TT.

    Hmmm just googled that...

Naaahh I'm definitely a Z bloke. The Skyline is nice if you want a sports/sedan sort of car but I'm a bit too much of a purest lol!
