I'm searching for a 12v source inside the car that *only* has power when the ignition is off. That is - when you turn the ignition on this 12v supply will then lose power. I don't think there is such a thing in the Z but just thought I'd ask. Any such source?

could you do some trickery with a relay?

Yes. A normally closed relay with the signal from the IGN circuit should do the trick.

Back of radio or the clock. You have 12 volt all the time for the memory as well as 12 volt with the ignition :D.

pretty sure that this would require a relay fitted - I can not think of anything that powers up after only when the ignition is off. as mentioned an "normally closed" type relay will do this no issues. hook the coil up to ignition feed and the moment you have the ignition on it will power off, it also wont use power to keep the circuit closed, that is if its for a stereo it wont draw any power while the stereo is off and the ignition is off. another option is a modified turbo timer install this will give you an easy timed power supply after the ignition is turned off for the likes of power windows etc

Yeah I was thinking a relay job if can't locate such a wire. To the people suggesting stereo wires - I appreciate the suggestion - however not quite sure you understand what I'm looking for ☺

Can't think of anything that fits the bill -it's almost certainly going to have to be a relay job.

What are you wanting to achieve?

Isn't there constant power to the injectors or something?

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

^that won't turn off with ignition assuming you want your car to start. If he just wanted constant 12 he could go to the battery.

Alarms come to mind by the way

Yes, a latching relay is the way to go.
