You can pick up good quality 2nd hand front bars off a few of the people on here via sale threads or maybe ebay or maybe gumtree. And it shouldn't cost you 1500.

Nissan Australia like most businesses rip everyone off, blaming high wages etc etc blah blah but not their overpaid salaries and perks. At times it is cheaper and QUICKER to get stuff online from the USA or UK, Japan etc even with our dollar the way it is.

You can not Plastic weld the Z bumper like other bumpers. to repair correctly you need a urethane repair kit which includes a 2 pot cement that works really well. Fibre glass is a possibilty (my front bar uses it on a modified stock bar) but the prep work is real important and it is just as inflexible then as a fibreglass bar. dont bother bracing with a metal plate and bogging the crack. When I get home from work I will get the name of the 3m product for urethane repairs, I have used it before and its the best product of its sort I have seen, if use correct it needs no bog work as it feathers out very well with sanding

When you spoke to Nissan did you specifically give the 2K front bar part number? They may have quoted the original TT front bar - even on CZP site the original TT bar is nearly twice the cost of a 2K bar. I got my 2K bar, indicators and harnesses for around the $600 mark (with car club member discount) from my local Nissan dealer - 3 weeks shipping from Japan.

yes for tt bar as thats what i wanted :) i'm going okay with this one at the moment :) have done the sanding first and then fiber glass with extra resin so it sets quicker and to hold the shape.
then fiber glass matting and more fiber glass with less resin works okay :) i have spray painted the back of it with that awesome paint rustoleum 2x in a spray can .i use it as marker so i know where the damage is.when i finish the back then will clean up front and get out the air compressor and spray guns :) :) fun time :) :)

I got my 2K bar from Nissan Dandenong for way less than it would have cost me to get it from COZ or any other overseas retailer. They're not as much of a ripoff as you seem to think.

99% of owners go through that pain - and the other 1% are lying bastards. :p

In 11 years of ownership, the car has gone through many stages - daily driver, off the road for to make exciting mods, weekend car, few track days, and worst of all - not being driven, but not by choice. Clutch went in mid-march and had to commit to putting funds into reducing debt, mortgage, etc. The past few months have been a time to wait for the tax return and decide if I have the passion to keep investing time and money into the Z. Decision was yes, because I missed it too much. Hope you find the passion again for these great cars, but there's no shame in moving on to something else or waiting a few years to find another fun project in the future. :zlove:

    Keep at it man.

Take it from someone who's been involved in a group rebuild.

The day you fire it up and you know it's because you've turned a spanner, is an amazing feeling.

    She'll be right.

The one I was involved in turned out AWESOME.....for 3 weeks.

in 15 yrs I've only had mine on the road for less than 1 year

I know how you feel. All depends how fussy you are. I'm extremely fussy so I bit the bullet and stripped mine to a bare shell and redoing everything so it looks better than new. I feel like I could have bought another house with the money poured into the project but it gives me enjoyment and something to do that's completely different to my day to day job. You could buy a cheap zed that's a bit tatty and use that to drive around in while doing up your existing one to look the way you really want it.

so far so good :) i found that welding clamps work very well for holding it in place while i fiber glass it :) ran out of fiber glassing matting and resin a bit bigger job then i first thought.but its all good got some more supply's.

had to rip tail-shaft out and replace uni joints and center bearings on daily car.feel heaps better about things i dunno after swinging a hammer around for a while release's a lot of anger.

and to help anyone out there that has to work alone and in a back yard ,when putting a tail shaft back in by yourself. cheat use a jack at the diff end to take the weight of the tailshaft :) :) test drive yesterday and i nailed it :) (touch wood)

  19. Good work man. Don't stress too much over zeds. I'm 3 in now and still haven't got it right haha but :zlove:
