I've found it odd that my car seems to start immediately on turning the key to "start" - unlike most cars where you get a few cold cranks with no ignition before it fires. I am worried a little by this as it doesn't really give the oil system even the slightest chance to get a bit of pressure on the go before its firing away. I was adjusting my clutch and noticed my ignition barrel has been replaced at some time in its life and mostly is a ball of sticky tape and wires... Last I had consult connected it looked like the ECU was getting the right "cranking" signal when the key was turned to start - ill double check as I wasn't looking for this. Hows your zed start?
Check the engine compression. An engine with good compression is harder to initially turn over than an engine with low compression. You could also check the amperage to the starter motor. A TT engine in good condition will draw about 600amps to start it turning over.
I think its good your engine starts so well. It would imply all is well in regard to starting. I keep my battery well charged to get as snappy a start as possible. It has been said many times that most engine wear is on start up. I would think this would be made worse with unnecessary cranking and rough starts. The quicker and smoother it spins up the quicker you have oil pressure. Cranking doesn't really give pressure in my experience, on an engine that has sat for a very long time it might be nice to get some oil flow in the top of the engine but again it gets there pretty quickly on start.

mine is a near new engine I have done less than 1000km's since I bought it nearly new (freshly rebuilt) from Chilled pain - it has an avg of 170 psi in all cylinders cold and variance is less than 5psi across all 6. it starts pretty much instantly on cranking (when I have a good battery in it) even if it has sat for a month or more. longest sit was nearly 3 months between starts and it started with less than 2 seconds of cranking
Thats how it should be. Depends on what stroke the motor 'rests' on after shutdown but if its the right position it can start seemingly instantly.
Double checked the start time on the TT engine. With the battery fully charged, it took seven compression strokes before the engine fired. The 1st compression stroke occurred approx 100ms after the starter motor commenced turning, the 7th compression stroke occurred about 600ms after the 1st. After the 7th compression stroke the speed of the starter increased until the engine started exactly 1 second after the starter motor was energised. An engine with low compression will start quicker than the above as the starter motor will spin the engine faster due to lower rotational resistance.
That's not normal for a TT with stock cam angle sensor and stock ECU. ECU signals all injectors and fires the correct spark plug to make it start almost immediately.
Low compression will crank quicker but wont necessarily start quicker since compression is needed to get good combustion, especially in cold weather. I think most Zs are now running batteries with much higher CCA than oem since commodore units fit nicely, mine usually starts in something like four strokes.

Sounds like a healthy motor/battery. My na sounded the same (fully rebuilt with a 780cca battery) started first crank
It's a sign of healthy compression, so don't sweat it. As for the oil pressure, don't worry either. The starter motor turns the crank so slowly it's not really building that much pressure at all.
