Hi guys. The lesson for today is using paint stripper to clean up some plastic parts that have been previously painted.
The map light in Kitty was painted silver and in prep to start the interior build I removed the map light from the car, and disassembled the electrical assembly.
Then I sprayed the whole surface with paint stripper and left it to do its job while I had a beer.
OPPS ! That was a mistake :bash:
When I returned to "scrub off the loose paint and wash the item I found what you see below.
Luckily I had a spare in the parts car to be able to use.
That Spray can is deadly on car plastics :mad:

*(embarrassed giggle). I know turpentine can melt plastic, but did not even think of this happening.
The reason for the "smaller" map light bezel is camera angle, and the good condition one, on the right, still has the electrics behind it making it closer to the camera.

Suppose I could go for the "battle scared" effect. That's not been done before

    Everyone's getting a good giggle, :D

    Hey G

Some are a bit harsh here - even if you didn't read the spray can directions - lol

At least you didn't spray enough of it to start a fire next to kitty!
(and you didn't get the very nasty fumes straight away)

I accidently got a small blob of Vaseline on the plastic surround case of a TV once - the TV started melting instantly! So I quickly tried to rub it off with a cloth but all I did was spread the hot sticky mess, which made it a larger problem! When the cloth started sticking to the melted mess - it was all over and the cloth remained there fused for the remainder of its life - (it was also hard to explain to visitors why a cloth was appearing out of the top of a TV)

Changed my insight into plastic! haha

Plastics not only react quickly with many items but they burn fast, being petroleum based.

NOTE: some acetone and petroleum based paints will do the same as well - read the directions...........!!!!!

I did more harm with the TV than you did with kitty - all is good - hopefully this lesson is learned.
