    Ok everyone, here it is...

After most deliberation, many research and all the informations, the commitee is pleased to announce that the location for Zedfest #7 is Orange!

    Distances from Major Capitals:
Brisbane: 1000km and 11hrs (depending which way we go)
Sydney: 250kms and 3.5hrs (so no excuses Blues!) :p
Melbourne: 765kms and 8hrs (again depending which way you go)
Canberra: 280kms and 3.5hrs (again depending which way you go)
Adelaide: 1100kms and 12hrs (again depending which way you go)
    Perth: 3700kms and 38hrs :br:

    Indicative Itinerary

    Friday

    Morning - Travel
Afternoon - Travel/Check-in (Arrive at accommodation venue)
Evening - Welcome BBQ and drinky-poos at accomodation venue (Meet & Greet, return of the round table Forum discussion), delivery of Zedfest #7 shirts (only available to those in attendance)
Kick on into wee hours (or crash out whenever you like!)

    --------------------------------------------------

    Saturday

Morning - Late/relaxed departure for Cruise (approx. 10:30am)
Afternoon - Cruise (Car photo-op at Lake Burrendong, Lunch at Wellington Caves, & Group photo-op/tour of Wellington Caves) More cruise details further down.
Evening - Free evening. There are plenty of places to eat, however I will be organising a group of us go and get pizza, come back to base and eat and drink the night away. Those wanting to partake in pizza, drinks and general shennanigans, better bring their A-game!

    --------------------------------------------------

    Sunday

Morning - Concourse - a chance to wander around and check out everyones cars. Also a chance to show them off to the locals of Orange. Location is likely to be at the Orange Agricultural Showground
Afternoon - Free afternoon (free time to explore, catch-up)
Optional Mini-cruise to Lake Canobolas, Miss Daisy?s Tea House , Mt. Canobolas (afternoon tea, catch-up)
Evening - Presentation Dinner at the Ex-Servicers Club (Awards, weekend highlights, opportunity to offer feedback on event)
Pricing to be confirmed as it is undergoing a remodel so we aren't sure which rooms etc are available. Basically we will be up for room hire and meals. They can cater us but as usual, this is more expensive, so we will likely order from their Brasserie, and bring our own meal choices up to the room chosen.

There will be further discussion around this topic.

    Monday

Morning - Check-out/Travel (Depart accommodation venue)

    Further Info:

    Accomodation
We have taken a decision to try and keep accomodation costs to a minimum, to try and encourage as many attendees as possible to make the trek, knowing full well that many will be travelling quite a distance over the weekend. Another big consideration was encourage things to be as relaxed and as social as possible. With this in mind, the primary accomodation will be:

    Colour City Caravan Park

Now this accom isn't anything special (likened to the cabins at Cowra), but it is adequate. And cheap. This will give us more money for getting liquored up and social :) All of the cabins are located together in the park which will be good for mingling. There are other accomodation options which will cater to those that might want to stay somewhere fancier (and more expensive) which will be listed further down the post.

The driveway and onsite roads are lowered Zed-friendly, so long as you?re appropriately cautious, but honestly, there?s little risk of beaching unless your Zed is stupidly (and illegally!?) low, and/or you?re driving like a retard?

They also have a camp kitchen available for use, and can set up a BBQ area closer to the cabins to save us the trek down the back to the kitchen. They also have gazebo that they are more than happy to have put up for our event use.

    Pricing?

    Optional Accomodation:

For those wanting something fancier, 2 options have been suggested as follows...

    West End Motor Lodge

They are a decent accommodation venue, although their cheaper rooms are already mostly booked out for Easter 2016 already.

Pricing looks like it would be between $150.00and $170.00per night here, currently waiting to hear back from them about any possibility of a group discount...

    Templers Mill

Owned by the Ex Servicers Club.

This appeared to be a very nice Motel, and we were told that it is currently undergoing renovations that should be completed by the end of 2015/early 2016. As mentioned above, it is located right next to the Club, with easy access (via the Clubs underground Carpark) to both the main Club/Brasserie, and the venue room (mentioned above). The driveway is also Zed-friendly?

Pricing looks like it would also be between $150.00and $170.00per night here, and they?re prepared to offer a group discount of 10% to their 2016 prices (which they do not currently have)...

    Cruise

    Main Cruise Itinerary
10:30am ? 11:45am: Depart accommodation venue and cruise to Lake Burrendong (approx. 1hr)
    11:45am ? 12:15pm: Group Car photo opportunity (approx. 30mins)

12:45pm ? 14:00pm: Break for lunch at The Caves Cafe (approx. 1hr 15mins)
14:00pm ? 15:30pm: Tour of the Cathedral cave (approx 1hr) - Cost - Usually $28, but we get it for $20! For those not interested in doing a cave tour, the Japanese Gardens are on site for you to hang out in while the others are underground!
    15:30pm ? 16:45pm: Return to accommodation venue (approx. 1hr)

Whole cruise approximately 201Km (6hrs)? These are conservative indicative durations. Don't be scared of the day out!

    Whole cruise approximately 45Km(2hrs)?

Now all that is out of the way, in the near future, we will post up the information regarding actually making a booking at the Caravan Park. So in the meantime, get some groups together that fit in one of the cabins.

I will be suggesting that the large 11 person cabin will be nominated as 'Party Central'. Looking squarly at Benny C (and Bec) to be primary residents of that one!

Lastly, feel free to post up any questions or concerns and one of us on the team will try to respond accordingly.

    I'll be there for sure.

as for accommodation it's up to what the other boys want to do.

If by some rare chance that Ditchams car is finished, he'll probably have to park it on the street :p

    Your point, lol?

    ----------

Seriously, though... Let us be crystal clear...

This is the Zedfest thread - not the Nationals thread... Zedfest is, and was always intended to be, a purely social gathering...

There will be NO motorsport offered in Orange next Easter... A Motorsport event was offered by Graham in 2014 at Gunnedah, and sadly drew only three participants... None of which, as I recall, were those who had called loudest for its inclusion in a Zedfest itinerary... As such, Motorsport events will be relegated to the NDSOC Nationals, and those crying out for just such a diversion will find such entertainment there... ;)

What would you have been wanting to do at Bathurst?
The Bathurst Motor Festival will be on, and unless you are competing you won't be able to get around the track during the daytime. It might be possible to drive round at night, depends if the road is opened up at the end of each day.

The track is closed to everyone except residents over the entire weekend.

Sadly I won't be at Zedfest, as unless I'm dead (touch wood lol), I'll be racing at Bathurst next year :br:
