i was parked next to (idling) and past highway patrol cars yesterday and they didnt look twice. yes some cops will just hassle you no matter what but it says a lot if even i can be left alone. my car doesnt sound like a stock zed

i was even pulled over on the side of the road with bonnet up once when my rad fan decided to destroy itself and some cops pulled up and literally looked at my engine and didnt say a word

they measure from the bottom of the wheel to guard apparently, both front and back sat outside of the guard... in that photo it was at ~85mm height.

ohh and it looks alot rougher in real life than this photo haha. it has sideswipe in drivers door, hail damage and clear coming off most panels, and cracked rear centre panel etc etc.

If your car is too low, you're going to have a bad time :p

    Seriously:
-Too low (usually the thing you get picked up for most, majority of mates have been done for this )
    -wheel offset/poke/guard clearance.
-too loud (but who wants a loud car anyway)
    -Bovs
-i know a few people who have been done for aftermarket seats.

But if your car looks somewhat presentable and isnt an s13 Silvia you should be in the clear ;)

I got racing seats ADR approved Tho so should be sweet?

As far as I know, even ADR approved Seats need to be certified under LK1 Standards. << im guessing that means they need to be check by an engineer/mod plated.

One more question how do I check my car height from the rear n front?. Or do I just measuring from the exhaust In the middle?

I have only ever seen them do it from the side in the middle of the car. I think its because there is a 1 metre radius around each wheel where they are not aloud to measure from.

But to be safe id suggest you keep it above 100mm everywhere

thanks mate 100mm seems more then enough, my car is sitting at 150mm atm, I was going to drop it 30mm. wouldn't 100mm be abit low?

NSW I always used to get pulled over in the zed, even just around the corner from my place when I use to live in Sydney.

I've lived in Melbourne now for a year and a half and haven't been pulled over yet. Although there are SO SO many less cops here (and a LOT more automatic speed camera's) so I think that might be why.

I used to love how laid back QLD people use to be (or so I got told) but whenever my folks or friends go up there its only reports of getting pulled over, maybe they hate NSW plates lol

I think it all changed though when that new law came in I remember read about QLD wanting to be the most toughest on hoons etc cause it once had the most laid back attitude against them? So I dunno maybe that's why it all changed.... also used to have one of the least amount of speed camera's but they to be trying to play catch up to the other states as far as I've heard?

Honestly some people (in nicer less bogan imports) tend to believe that they are getting less cop attention then before, that is if the car looks somewhat respectable .. But i will say this , if you get caught with an obvious defect or caught doing something under Hoon laws , they crack down pretty hard.

When I first got the zed and the cops would ask to pop the bonnet Id almost loose it when Id see the WTF look on their faces as they tried to figure out what the hell they were looking at under the bonnet. Had one guy have a stab and try to get me for illegal bov's, it was hard telling him it wasn't even a turbo while he was trying to squeeze his face down the side of the engine insisting that it was  Its also funny watching them try to inspect the tyres, having to stick your head on the ground to look is not most police's cup of tea (not that I drive around on dangerous tyres).

I had the same thing happen, he was their looking for turbos and Bovs . i told him twice that it was NON turbo and wouldnt believe me at all, keep shining the torch down the side looking for them haha.

In court they played the recording of my Toyota driving away.

I actually got a LOT more attention with that car.

I only realised the other day that I've been driving my Zed for over 6yrs now. It's always looked stock and for most of that time has been very loud and it has BOVs.

I've never been pulled over for anything other than speeding/RBT. But no dramas or more attention than deserved.

If anything (and this isn't directed towards cops) other drives find black Zeds invisible... stay out of people's blind spots and have good horn reflex when an SUV drives to reverse over the top of you at a set of lights for no apparent reason.

How can BOV's be defect ?
They only vent atmosphere air no fuel.
