Where it runs along the back of the hatch where it lines up with the taillights. Bit dark in your pics above. Keen to see the aftermarket break light.

What did the freight cost you

I had another photo which showed the gap across above the tail lights, it's dead straight but I must've cut it to make space for the other (otherwise better) similar photo. I'll get you another later, I should have the wing off again in a day or two.

    $300 or so for freight.

    Cool, thanks.

Freight is bearable I guess. Packing was good?

My vision is in such a mess that I attempted to drive it today so I'd feel better about it. Didn't go well, but I still feel better!

Haven't been out with my new wheel set up before. Never saw this coming...

I love scrubbing. You cut/bash something out of the way and something else takes its place.

Dude I know! I use my regular power drill for the most part to get me through. I'd love a cordless torque gun, that'd be epic.

    I need sponsorship...

Not there! I've never scrubbed so high in the fender before.

The ride height inconsistency is really shutting me. I'm only rubbing on one side because of it. I'm really interested in getting adjustable sway bar end links so I can even the height but I need to learn more about how that would effect handling. More research needed!

we'll make a wog out of you yet

Over the last few months the sound system has (slowly) been done.

For this, more or less all credit goes to member newz (Cookie) who put together just about the whole thing himself. Mikey5555 also lent a hand, so all credit goes to these two. I owe you a lot.

The car came with $400 pioneer front speakers (winning!). The plan was simply to shift them to the back, fit some new 6.5" pioneers to the front with tweeters, hook up a pair of subs, a pair of amps and control it all with a swanky new head unit. to boot, the whole system was rewired from scratch and uses no OEM wiring at all.

I'll say this - I'm not a doof doof guy. This whole system was done on the cheap because as far as I can tell even low end aftermarket systems sound a million bucks. I didn't scrape the barrel for the parts but it was not something I wanted to dump money into.

    Specs:
    - Pioneer head unit (three outputs, bluetooth, iPod integration, actually not **** ugly): $343 (new, on special)
    - Pioneer 6.5" front splits w/ tweeters: $207 (new, on special)
    - Pioneer 6" rear splits ($400 new came with car)
    - Pioneer 4 channel amp ($50 second hand)
    - Alpine 2 channel amp ($50 second hand)
    - Pioneer 10" subwoofers x 2 ($150 pair second hand)
    - Bose rear speaker boxes ($50)
    - MDF front speaker boxes ($10)
    - Roughly 50 meters of cabling, connections, etc (~$250)

So that's about a 1.5k system. I got the amps and subs together for $250 on Gumtree. Winner.

The man, Cookie. A hell of a lot of man hours went into my car on his behalf.

We started off pulling the subs out and fitting the Bose rear boxes (thanks Sammy). We pulled the pioneers that came with the car from the front, bolted them to the boxes and the rear was done.

there was a whole lot of this:

    and this:

Mikey dropped 'round and we made up some MDF front speaker panels. Reportedly a big improvement, and looking at the OEM piece of scrap metal that holds the speakers from the factory I'm not suprised.

We cut out the back of the air vents in the doors to place the tweeters. This was an idea of Mikey's that I really like - can't stand cut out door cards for speakers.

then sika'd it for air flow and vibration reasons

We ran all the speaker wiring together through the center console, under the carpet and the back seat. The battery relocation was wired at the same time, positive running up the driver's side well away from the speaker wiring, crossing the body through the tunnel running between the strut towers. This meant it was always well away to avoid interference.

The amps were bolted down in the boot. Conveniently, the four channel lined up perfectly on both sides with two existing bolts coming off the boot floor. Didn't want to block fuel pump access either.

Here're the subs. I haven't made up the corner boxes yet but it's high on the to do list. For the mean time they're disconnected.

totes bought them because they'll match the car lol

Here's a quick shot of what I've resolved to do with my boot trim as well. I needed damper access, and I'll be damned if I'll remove all the boot trim again to pull them out in future. This cut out means the end of the brace can be slotted through, so no need for a full height slot. Please excuse the condition of the trim piece, it's obviously temporary.

Done and dusted and the clarity of sound is just staggering. No distortion. At all. Anywhere. Cookie credits that to the full aftermarket rewire, and I think he's right. It took us ****ing ages, but I think I'll only thank myself later for the time investment.
