Hi Guys, I have done a deal with ECU Talk to get a reduced price on these for forum members. This is for the Australian designed and manufactured ECU Talk Consult/USB plug and their diagnostic software package.

This package will allow you to do the following

    • View sensor data (e.g. gauges, also ECUTalk software also has economy/fuel consumption/distance, etc 'sensors')
    • Sensors include (there are others depending on car model): RPM, Speed, O2, Throttle, Battery, Timing, Air Flow, Duty Cycle, Water Temperature, AAC, etc
    • Log sensor data (for later graphing in Excel, etc)
    • View error codes, and the number of times the car has started since the error code was logged
    • Clear error codes
    • Aid in adjusting idle by locking timing to allow comparison with a timing light
    • Allow other 'active tests' to be performed, such as shutting off cylinders (if one cylinder is misfiring, you can discover which by turning them off one at a time)

Each package includes a genuine ECU talk cable with genuine Nissan Consult connector (for perfect fitment that does not interfere with fuesbox cover etc) and USB connector, and the following software on CD-ROM.

    • ECUTalk software and drivers
    • OBD Scantech 1.29 Nissan
    • Conzult
    • Calumsult

ECU Talk can be customised to display a range of sensors, some examples in the screenshots below.

These are currently available via ebay for $92 delivered. My ongoing price for forum members is $80 delivered and I am offering an opening discounted price $75 delivered for the first five buyers.

Please post or PM if you wish to buy, or post questions.

    Cheers

do these work with nistune? also i thought ecutalk were those weird lcd units?

As in are the cables compatible with Nistune software. Should be -the ecutalk cables are essentially a consult port/USB interface, and the drievers needed to run the USB are included with the kit.

Ecutalk are a manufacturer -they do cable/software packages, and make the units you described which are like a digital display for the factory sensors. The display would be something you would mount in the car in lieu of aftermarket gauges or similar.

    Eg below

put me down for a cable, and if you want. you can send both the clear side rears and this at same time if you want.

    Works 100% fine with Nistune.

    Interested!

how hard is it to learn how to tune your own Z with this?

From what I gather, the ECUtalk cable is simply a cable that you can talk to the car with. The programs Consult and ECUtalk are there to help you monitor and diagnose any faults that may occur.

If you want to tune your car, you need to socket your ECU and chip it with something like nistune that will allow you to "re-map" your car.

Im sure someone will correct me, if I'm wrong. I'm a noob after all :p

    thanks Frysie.

my car is getting chipped this week.
so does that mean that it will be nistuned?

I'd still need this cable to tune it though wouldnt I?
i take it i would need further software to do the tuning side of things?

Depends if they use Nistune or one of the other methods. Generally if you take it in for a tune they will use Nistune or a emulator to tune it, and then burn you a chip with that tune on it.

To do the tuning you need a chip burner or nistune, then the software to do it. Nistune software is probably the nicest out there for tuning the standard ECU.

ah, ok. so this package probably isnt going to be much use to me.
I thought it might have been so I can tune my own Z. but seems the tuning process if more complex.

    thanks for the info

Yes, this software allows for trouble shooting and monitoring of your car. Every zed owner who wants to check the health of their zed should have this IMO. Makes it so easy to find problems.

This software allows things to be done that you can't with Nistune, like power balance, setting timing, idle etc. If I wasn't going to a Haltech I would buy this. I've been putting it off for ages and it's caused me to chase my tail many times

ok so you can still adjust timing with this software... that might come in useful,

I know how bad the na used to get when the timing started to go out just a litte. but when it was set up properly, it purred like a leopard

I may not have been clear, it allows you to set the timing (with the cas, but without temp correction etc stuffing it all up). You can adjust timing temporarily using this, but the setting is across the board and not permanent. Any permanent changes to the car requires adjusting a sensor or changing a chip/nistune.

This. Eric showed me how nistune is socketed and how the soldering sets the read/write access to store/save values. Anything you change via consult through a stock ECU will be stored as read-only memory and will go away when you turn the car on/off.

I think we should stop discussing this in the thread and let rob sell these :)

IMO and as Chrispy said, every zed owner should have one of these.
