hey guys, something I know nothing about, I'm about to place an order through CZP in the us, the order ( including shipping ) come back at over $1300 posted. I'm wondering, will I have to pay a tax on this? CZP said I could put anything in this box I choose but doing that will make it more expensive in the end no? for reference it's coming over via UPS. anyone have an idea?
Just recently i bought just under $700 worth of goods from America, via USPS. No taxes. I think the threshold is $1000. There is a percentage tagged on from there on out for every Kudo you spend. There was a thread all about this a few months back. Maybe have a little search.
Technically yes. For imported goods landed here with a value over $1000, incl freight, you must pay 5% customs duty on the original cost, then add in the freight to that and pay 10% of the new total as GST. However lots of people have send shipments like that and never been tagged. Coz has to fill out a customs form on the side of the box and I am sure he will put a nice value there if you ask him. He is familiar with all of this. I have heard of $6000 superchargers coming in marked as $500 air compressors. I get the feeling the customs people are less strict with items addressed to private premises rather than commercial addresses.
I've also heard they're cracking down on sneeky imports. Be careful when mucking about with that lot. Personally I'd just pay the tax and then I can sleep at night.
Coz always used to send the invoice separately, so there was no mention of cost on the actual package. I know of someone who got a box with $5K of stuff and was not charged import duty.
Hey Rod, Just send them an email. I had my turbos delivered from Coz and they listed the item sent as a rebuilt turbo even though they are brand new so i didnt have to pay import tax. Hope this helps.
Honestly I dont think its the job of customs to play the role of mr tax man. I thought thats what the ato did? Never been seen at the dentist by a police man?
I bought 2k worth from z1 with out getting taxed but need to spend 4k more worried they'll pick me up on the prevues order when the 4k one goes through as well whats 5% on $6000?
why what for, its one sentence who need punctuation or math skills at 9am Saturday morning. That's why I'm a tradey.
mate I'm a tradie that is NOT even an excuse ! 5% would be $300 by don't forget the gst on that (10%) so another $600 to get it here ! sucks so bad, fuuuu inport tax !!
Aye, I think the majority of the time you wont get hit, but always keep the spare money just incase you do cause some people on here have had to pay it in the past, just the majority not.
I got hit with import tax on a sub i had shipped over from the US of A, customs held it until I paid them. *note I did not even pay $1000 for the item, but the retail was over $2000 here at the time, I had to pay the taxes on the retail value, and not what I paid. So be careful =]
I can help you out as well You can send the other box to me if you like - lol No shortage of helpers here - lol
