I absolutely hate reverse parallel parking, and it really annoys me in the dark i can see the passenger side gutter, when i buy new rims the last thing i want to do is rim bash, so i was thinking of installing an led strip underneith the car that kind disperses light outwards, i would wire it in to my reverse lights so it only came on when i put it in reverse..

Any suggestions on a product that will be bright enough as well as being stealth so you cant detect it unless it lights up
i was thinking something like this clicky

please no sugesstions, that im a shit driver and i should know where the gutter is

    thanks

How about some under-car neons? They look good aswell as light up lol

I have also seen a zed with reverse parking sensors...the guy had drilled holes into their rear bar so when reversing his camera would turn on and his double din unit would show up as to whats behind him...

    Good luck,

naa not really into the neons, plus don't want the extra police attention,

i can see behind me just not to the side so i dont think i need sensors

I was thinking more like how trucks have their lights on the side...but maybe with the zed maybe just underneath and with strips that can be directed in a certain direction as needed.

I know what you mean. I use my side morror. I angle it when i park so i can see the gutter. Its apain to readjust it all the time but its better than the damage to rims/tires!

Have a look at the clear Altezza side markers in my For Sale thread (they're already sold).
I reckon a strong LED bulb in something like that would give you all the illumination you need. Easy to wire them into the reversing lights. Maybe you would only wire up the passenger side.

i would do this mate, however my bumper is ausspec and doesnt have any side markers

On another note, i think i might go with the led strip, whats the best place to run the cable through near the back somewhere??

And would it be as simle as drawing power from the 12v reverse lights and earthin it to the chasis, would this have any downfalls, ie making the reverse lights less bright??

I'd run the power wire through the grommet for the number plate light and then across behind the rear bar.

I am not familiar with those LED strips but I presume they are sold in a format that allows you to run 12V directly to them without worrying about current limiting resistors. The current drawn would be trivial; no issues with your existing lights or the fuse that controls them.

mate, what you should do is get some F off bright SMD's for your numberplate lights, ive got some in there and trust me, you can see everything down there, ill try and chuck up a photo tonight for you to see how bright they really are :D
