    Great pics Geoff, as usual.

Thanks for the effort of bringing down and setting up all of that telescope gear, too. It wasn't exactly a balmy evening either. Great to look out into the great Void and try to ponder all the imponderables that creates.

I was on street tires and it sucked! The car was fast when I could get traction but semi slicks are high on the agenda now! Had a ball on the track!

See Pete, i told you you shouldn't have taken my helmet in the first run .....

i was joking with Pete about this, because the 2nd run in the morning on the short track, coming to the start/finish line, the seat slid back... quite a fair way. So i grabbed the wheel which made me head right, totally off line and with my little toes just touching the pedal, ran off the track but grabbed a gear and kept going. Managed to scoot forward enough to get the seat forward (or so i thought) until those bumps again along the front straight and the seat went allll the way back - ie i couldn't touch the pedals! Yet again off the track a little more sideways and let it stay there coz i knew it would stall... which it did and i had to hang onto the wheel to meet the pedals again to start it.... and then have another crack on the last lap...
So if anyone asks, Pete wore my (white) helmet in that run and it was him..........;)

My Nat's 2011 experience... (Pic HEAVY!!?!)

Leah and I never tire of spending quality 'Zed' time with quality 'Zed' people! :D

The entire weekend was awesome, and started for us with a double-demerit influenced (very) sedate cruise to Goulburn for Leah and myself in my Zed, Zedmd in his, and our fantastic friend Dougie in his amazing 180SX. Only a quick 90min cruise for us from our own front doors to the incredible Trappers Inn, so virtually in our own backyard this time.

A big thanks to DinoZ for organising us a fine feast in the function room on Friday night, it was absolutely the PERFECT way to start the 2011 Nationals!!!

Saturday was all about the Concours, which seemed quite disorganised - at least if you were participating in anything other than a '1600' of some description, or some such (perhaps harsh, but that's how it felt). Turned up, as instructed, for 8:45am, opened up the Zed (bonnet, hatch and doors) and settled in for what was to be a long, long day, with lots of very impressive cars on show!

A quick shine before the crowds arrive...

The days most important Judges, Jack & Ben...

What surprised me greatly was how the Marshals wouldn't let anyone leave until 3pm (whether an entrant or not) - they should've known better than to try and get in KEZA's way when he's motivated, though...

Unlike Wykked and Blondie who missed having the Race Car judged entirely, I was approached literally just as I had finished closing up the Zed and was warming it up to head back to the Motel somewhere post 3pm. Gob-smackingly, the Judge made some vague reference to the Z32's having been forgotten or something, and that he'd been roped in to help finish them up.

Next we all headed back to Trappers', had a brief relax, and met up at the Micky-D's next door for ProckyZ89's awesome impromptu cruise to Crookwell. Much fun was had, even at on or just below the speed limit - which is a good thing as we saw a P-Plater in an Excel losing his licence courtesy of the Goulburn Highway Patrol within minutes of exiting Goulburn.

    Meet-up...

Just proves that you don't need to speed to have fun - though it certainly does help!:br::rofl:

After that, those of us who cruised, met up for dinner across the road from Trappers at a small Indian Take-Away. The staff were great and let us pretty much order whatever we wanted, rearrange their furniture and generally take over the place.

Once done with dinner, we headed back and were pleasantly surprised to find that Geoff (hope that's the correct spelling) had set up his 5 figure telescope for us all to view deep into the distant past and see something beyond ourselves. Mate, thank you for sharing your passion with us in such an extraordinary way. A memory I'll treasure...

Geoff showing us all how it's done, and more importantly, explaining it to us in little words we could all understand! :D

Sunday was all about Motorsport - Hill Climb, Short Track Sprint and Full Track Sprint. Another of the "I didn't participates", I got great pleasure out of watching those Zedders who did, as well as my close friend Dougie in his fantastic 180SX.

Others have far greater shots of the day, so I'll leave those to the better camera's / photographers.

Next was the presentation dinner. At Wykked's request (on behalf of the organisers), many of the Forum members dolled-up to show that we were as classy as our cars.

(Sorry Doug, it seems I cut off your head...)

I'll take a moment here to say thank you to my beautiful partner, Leah. You looked stunning that night, and although you are the center of my universe (as opposed to popular opinion being my Zed, and contrary to Geoff's "Stellar" teachings the previous night ). You were amazingly beautiful and took my breath away!

The food was great, but the event just took far too long, and the presentations (when they finally took place) were very disorganised :(. That said, the atmosphere at our table was one of fun and frivolity, and much entertainment was provided amongst ourselves.

We were well represented, with J.T. the fastest Zed, AndyMac and Wykked taking Track day trophies, and our star performer, Joe (ZOE NZX300), who took "Best Engine Bay" and "Top Z Car" (Rob Shannon Perpetual Award) as well as "two" raffle prizes. Beautiful Zed, Joe, we have much to learn from you - you are an inspiration! :D

All of us that got our "Swank" on! (with Joe looking as clean and well dressed as his Zed in the Centre!)

The next morning we all checked out, said our final goodbyes till next time and headed our separate ways for the next 12 to 24 months. For Zedmd, Leah and I, it was on to Sydney to see the awesome Disturbed in concert and home to Canberra again Today.

A fantastic time had, with fantastic people and fantastic cars. I look forward to seeing you all again at the next one in Melbourne and (hopefully) Phillip Island Racetrack. Leah and I both will be racing my Zed then, and can't wait for it to come around.

To the organisers (like zedgirl), it's easy to armchair criticise, but although I had my concerns which were minor really, I want you all to know that Leah and I had a FANTASTIC time! :D

Finally, I'd like to make a very special mention, and single out, our amazing local host - ProckyZ89. You were great company, a great sport in dressing up with us, the cruise was fantastic and your Zed is another inspiring example of the kind of special and individual car a Zed can be.

I look forward to continuing our friendly rivalry!:br::cool::D

Lil' Baz (Iain) and Leah..... :zlove:

    Top weekend

Overall was a great event, sure some parts were disorganised and tedious but its the people and the cars that make the event enjoyable. Was great to catch up with everyone as its been a while for me since ive been to a major Z event, last one was 2007 Nationals.

Main attraction for me, the track day was good fun and great to get back out there after a long break. Now the hillclimb results are up I can see how close it was with 0.18 seconds seperating the 4 fastest Z32's. I was pretty happy to be only 0.05 sec behind hillclimb regular Pete Wykked. Long circuit did ok too, I think an extra lap per session to make it 4 flying laps would be a good improvement for next time.

The Presentation night was the Tedious part, It was way too long and disorganised. I think in future it would be worth the organisers paying a couple hundred bucks to get a proper MC to run the night. Anyway, the Z32 guys did very well, Joe especially, well done mate your car is a credit to you. Pete, dont know where I was but I missed you getting your trophy, well done as well.

I won a trophy for fastest car in type 4 whatever that is with Andymac getting fastest time in type 2. Best I can work out off the cams regs is that Andy won best time for "Road registered with limited modifications" and I won best time for "Modified sports sedans" Im still confused but I like my trophy anyway:D

Overall was a top event and thanks to all the members and staff of trappers for my 4 or 5 push starts I required to make it throught the weekend.

  20. AndyMac

    AndyMac Better than you

Yeah, I was quite suprised at how close the z32's were on short track and hill climb were, especially when you look at the differences between the cars. Major HP differences, suspension setups, tyres, the works.

Great to see a good number of new guys getting the zeds out onto the track and having a blast, zed ownership is only going to get more expensive from here on in guys!

And finally, it was great to catch up with the NSW crew, we don't catch up nearly enough!
