Hey guys. Been having a problem the last day or 2 with the Z seeming to want to idle between 1500-2K revs instead of it's normal 800 revs. It also seems keep the revs up even when i'm not touching the accelerator, and changing through the gears. This problem is a bit temperamental, so sometimes things work as they should and other times not

Is this the throttle sticking open just a little bit? I've checked fluids (radiator, oil) and all seems normal there

Sounds like the Air regulator or AAC valves are playing up. Doesnt sound like you have too much experience with these cars. Try and get one of the GC forum members to assist you.

Haha, i've had one for quite some time, but i'm definitely not mechanically minded...

If the throttle is sticking open then check the small right angled metal pipe just to the left of the right hand throttle body. On my car this got push out a tiny bit and the throttle linkage was fouling on it causing it to stay open. Check to see if it has any wear marks on the side.

Just tap it back in with a hammer or somthing.

Sorry I don't have a picture but if you do a search on the forum you will find one. Check this first as I had a couple of near misses when the throttle stuck open in the wet.

Otherwise it could be the AAC system

Mine had this for awhile, was a combination of boost leaks and faulty TPS

Mine's an NA, so no boost to leak :)

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

Boost leak = Vacuum leak (which you can still get) :)
TPS can be checked to ensure it's .44v - .46v where it should be.

It does sound like more of an AAC/IACV or vacuum issue to me also. pop the connectors off and make sure no corrosion on them. (tech section will elaborate)

Otherwise do as said earler and have a friendly local forum member have a look over it and also a boost/vacuum leak test also. It's no doubt an easy problem to cure for you buddy. :)

Just think, if you still lived in Greenmount, it would be fixed by now. :zlove:

This was happening to my car when I bought it, same as you described. Cleaning all connectors fixed it.

Yeah, my problem had the same 1.5-2k idle, what we found was that when the TPS was physically moved the idle changed, (volt readings were all over the place, not stable) indicating faulty TPS connector or unit. Replaced TPS with a known working one and idle was back down to 1k, then fixed all boost (vac) leaks which got it down to the proper 750.

    Good luck

Man, it's times like these where I wish i still lived there... Hoping someone might be able to help me out with the problem as I lack the tools and know how of all this. Will check out the Tech section to see if I can find out what to do, MIGHT give it a go myself... i dnt do well with mechanical jargon :p

Also check your throttle plates for build-up.
    That will affect your idle
