Man...that sucks, we usually get up pretty early to meet everyone at Danger point too..but not that early ...

So Kingy where is the meeting point along the GOR? Is it not at Danger Point anymore? I've read every post in this thread..seems like the Melb guys are just gonna continue driving and the Geelong guys are just gonna tag on along the way...

Where do I meet you all?

Yeah pretty much. if you can imagine the distance between say torquay and the city...i'm a tad further away than that, over the other side of both bays. With the money i'm saving from not going on the GOR, i'm going to take myself out for a nice lunch at a local restaurant and take my portfolio along and see if they'll have me as a displayed artist :)

Have given you choices tho ...... :D

    does that help ?

suggest the Avalon Servo, easy to find, is a refueling spot on the GOR run, breaky to go, large parking area, & the melbourne ppl will be stopping there too !

ring me if you need more info ;)

    Hi Kingy,

I believe we are leaving at 7am to make sure we meet you guys on your way through Geelong somewhere, Avalon Servo sounds like a good spot to meet you all...our problem is we aren't from Melbourne and as such have no idea where it is.

If you could provide a couple of roads to find it by on Google Maps or even an address we'll definitely meet you there. What time are you expecting to get there? We'll try and make sure we are there beforehand so as not to hold up the cruise.

Really looking forward to the day, just hope its good weather unlike last time.

    Cheers!

    Craig

Just trying to pinpoint it on a map here....according to cruise option 3, Geelong will be bypassed on the Geelong Ring Road in which case C, E & G are ruled out and B is kinda out of the way having to go through Lara so Im pretty sure thats not the one you are talking about...is there an actual BP servo on the freeway going past Avalon Airport?

Also Google maps reckons its about 2.5 hours from Bendigo to Geelong through Bacchus Marsh, that puts us in Geelong at 9:30am...if your leaving Todd Rd Servo at 8:30am will you be through Avalon Servo before or after 9:30am? We'll leave earlier if we have to, obviously whatever it takes to meet you guys in time.

    Cheers!

The bp they're talking about is on the Geelong road, not the ring road, and is about 10min out of Geelong. It would take them maybe 30min to get there from Todd rd servo

Yep, Tim is right. There is a BP servo on both sides of the Geelong road at Avalon, basically a stone throw from Avalon airport. And yes, i'd expect we'd be there around 9am with a 15-20 min stop to get fuel etc.

Thanks guys, so basically the servo should be roughly where B is on the map? Or somewhere along that stretch close to Avalon Airport?

Annoying that we have to back track like 20-30kms but I'd rather meet at a servo than try and time it to slot in along the freeway somewhere.

It estimates 2hr and 50min to get there from Bendigo through Bacchus Marsh so out of bed about 5:30am  and head off about 6-6:20am....we are going to be so stuffed by the end of the day...worth it for a great cruise though

    Cheers!

Yeah Craig, it is near the B. From when you turn off Bacchus Marsh road and onto the freeway it won't take long. Less than 10 mins.

Come rain, hail or shine we Bendigonians will be there ;) (though if its hailing ill be finding shelter very quickly :p)

Ill be so disappointed though if the weather is crap...like how often do we get together for the cruise, once a year and this is the second time it's been organised for the year as it rained real bad last time this year but it had the added aspect of someone spilling diesel on the GOR for a few hundred kms as well while still raining, so it was cancelled (a few brave souls still navigated it though and thankfully without incident)....youd think the second time this year we'd get lucky and have some decent weather (prays to the weather gods :bow2:), especially with the weather patterns of late (like nearly skipping Spring altogether).

It'd better not rain  but all the same, don't pike just because a bit of water falls out of the sky

    Cheers!

Well I reckon I would almost reconsider if it rains...Craig knows how much I hate driving in the rain..and god...last time we organised it, it rained ...
