    RUN DETAILS:

Meetup point is the Shell servo on Todd Rd as per usual.
    Arrive BEFORE 8:00am
Depart 8:00am for point Danger Torquay.
This section will be lead by BigCol.

    9:15 ~ 9:30
Begin arriving at Point Danger on "The Esplanade" road
(dependent on traffic flow from the AirShow along the Princess Hwy, time may be later)

    10:00 ~ 10:15
Depart Point Danger for the coast
    Travel to ..... Anglesea ~ Airey'sInlet ~ Lorne ~ WyeRiver ~ SkenesCreek

Turn Right At SkenesCreek to "Forrest" on the Skene'sCreek/Forrest Road.
15K's later you should be at "HainesJunction" & should turn left into "Turtans Rd"
NB: Turtans Rd is very TWISTY and TIGHT, please give yourselves some room on the first part of this road and be very aware of oncomming traffic.

Turtans Rd will take us through "BeechForrest" and then onto our lunch venue at the "Otway Fly"
GPS info : 360 Phillips Track, Weeaproniah .....
turn left into Phillips Rd & turn off is just before "Ferguson"

A tree top walk is available for those that wish to take the opportunity, it takes just under an hour for the average fitness wise person. We will spend about 2hours at the Otway fly for a good break and a feed and to give members time to take the walk. This time is also for the social side of things for members that dont wish to take the walk....

    Visit..... http://www.otwayfly.com/ for more info.
NB: its rather cool up in the tree tops so a jacket might be a handy item to carry.

After Lunch we head to LaversHill and turn right to head to ApolloBay, following the GOR back towards Lorne. At Lorne we can either turn north and head to "DeansMarsh" and then "Winchelsea" then Geelong .....
    OR
continue on to Anglesea and then to Geelong.....

That decision can be made on route to suit people's needs.

My mobile number is 0418 322 475 should you get lost or need advise during the run etc etc.

At this stage I'll be joining the run along the PrincessHwy near the airfield..... provided I get the car going by then ( full day in the shed by the looks of it !! )

    see ya's in the morning

    Kingy

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    Have fun tomorrow, you guys!
Unfortunately, I can't make it (work), but having been on the exploratory run a couple of months ago, I can thoroughly recommend the trip. Even if its a bit wet, it should still be a great day (but be carefull between Beech Forest and the Otway Fly!)
    Enjoy!

Well after getting some news which I'll allow BigCol & Kingy to elaborate on, the cruise hasn't so much been cancelled as possibly changing location and type of event (eg. BBQ?) but we won't be cruisin the GOR :(

    Cheers!

    GOR 2009........

    POSTPHONED

Report via the local 2way radio network....

a fuel tanker has lost a several hunderd litres of diesel fuel along the GOR ( mainly between Angelsea and Lorne according to CFA/SES radio links). This has also been reported on the TV news apparently, although I didnt see the report.
There are also reports that several trees have fallen and may not be cleared until late sunday afternoon, this impacts our route to the Otway Fly.

With the large spill and the bad weather the road has become way to dangerous for the GOR to safely go ahead this weekend. I have spoken to a few members regarding the postphonement and we shall re-schedule the run for a couple of weeks time.

Appologies to all ..... better safe than wrecked !

Stay tuned for the new date ;)

Organise something then? I know it's short notice but I took the day off work and as tempting as sleeping all day sounds, I rather be out in the zed even if it's raining.

  20. BigCol

    BigCol That's what she said...

Adam, I'm not making the decisions anymore for the GOR (although I would have made the exact same decision as Kingy), but I think the cruise is postponed rather than cancelled full stop. I'm sure it will be organised for another date within the next few weeks. I expect there will be a post in the next few days or so about re-scheduled dates.

Safety of a) members, and b) our cars are of the utmost importance. The GOR is a tricky drive in wet weather, and with oil / diesel included into the equation it is far too dangerous for the 2% who will always push the limits. The aus300zx GOR cruise has never had an accident and the intention is keeping it that way.
