Definitely consider it, and go flex so that you don't constantly have to run e85 if you can't be bothered driving that 20 mins.

E85 is easy power mate, might as well take advantage of it!

    IB ?????

I think he would also need bigger injectors to run E85.

Spent the day cleaning up after wind gusts destroyed the gazebo covering the car.

On a positive note, I had been debating whether to get a brand new AC condenser or not from the states because you can't find them anywhere after market and no longer made by Nissan. This one oem kit on ebay with shipping came up to around $800 AUD, so there was no way I was spending that.

I didn't want used so I ordered a universal ac condenser which arrived last Friday.

    Compare new and old.

As you can see I used the oem brackets, cut some holes at its side to allow the new condenser piping room, I also extended the driver side with make shift brackets.

This came out better than I expect as it was a perfect fit.

I did get a little lucky with it fitting so tight under the boody loom, I had not planned for that. It is so snug that its supporting the body loom atm.

Thats pretty neat ! A condenser is a condenser at the end of the day.

Slow progress lately, been waiting on several parts on back order, and day time job taking too much time away from the Z.

A couple of packages arrived today with a bunch of parts, inclusing AMS ducts for the larger SMIC, the complete Kuruma moulding kit, a bunch of weatherstrips and a crap load of other small items.

Also got the JWT POP Charger Intake Kit which I managed to install. I thought surely there is some sort of gasket that goes between the filter and the MAF but there wasnt. I wasnt happy with plastic MAF meeting aluminium filter connector as it does not form an air tight seal.
So, I put some butyl adhesive that I peeled off of some left over sound deadener. Yes it sounds dodgy, but forms a very good seal.

Here it is installed. I've also put the PTU relocation kit on.

Now just gotto find some hoses that I can use for the stock BOV's. I've had to flip them around due to larger SMIC piping and there is no way the longer stock hoses can be fit anymore. All usual auto shops being closed for click and collect due to Covid has been putting me off in window shopping in the hopes of finding the correct size and shape hose. I think I need a Z hose with a 30mm inside diametre.

Pretty tight fit between the front support bar.

Make sure you put the splash shield back in front of the filter mate, if the filter is in a direct air stream, ie (the car is moving forward) you'll find stalling engine cut out is a problem, no brakes or power steering, a very unpleasant feeling. Also the afm your using should have had an o-ring on the connecting face to the filter. If you cant use the splash shield, the flower pot mod works, and works well.

Yeah got the stock splash shield and will put it back on eventually. Just keeping space open for now to put other things in/around there.

And yeah, I didn't see an O ring there and didn't have one with me for that size, I reckon the butyl will do a better job now anyway. Haha

Bits and pieces have been getting put back together very slowly lately.

Been wanting to refresh the headlights. The ones I have the lens is great and the rubber is okay. I just cleaned up the assembly and sanded parts of the rubber to get it looking schmick. Also painted the metal attachment bits that are eye sores when covered in rust in plain sight in the engine bay.

Anyway, the plastic gears inaide the adjusters of the headlights were all cracked, therefore I couldnt adjust anything. I came across a ppst on the UK forums and also a youtube video where you can get some gears for a toy car as a replacement.

    See this link.

Anyway, I ordered the kit like a month ago and they've finally arrived. The funny thing is I only need the two large bits in the packet, and I need 4 of those for each headlight. Unfortunately they only come in the packages with everything else, so ordered multiple packages just for those two large bits.

Replaced tue broken plastic bits with these metal ones. Using engine grease is a mist for this as its quite hard to get those gears on the rods.

This was a great mod, I can now actually adjust the headlights lol.

So funny that you found that on a UK forum. Those gears were first published on aus300zx.com by me.

Back in the early naughties, I had friends that owned a hobby shop. I got a few different Tamiya spares pack thinking some of them may work. The plastic gears I was hoping would be suitable were not but those metal and new were a great upgrade from stock.

Haha wow, a google search for it definitely didn't land me on here, however I think the people on the UK forums were referring to another post, but no source was posted.

I think it is a great upgrade and should be more commonly known by many.

Pretty much every plastic gear I pulled off was either split in half or broken. Knowing that these things will not break and way better than OEM is awesome.

Still waiting on the engine atm. Short block has pretty much everything done to it. Waiting on head service and then reassembly.

In the mean time I've been getting some more important stuff done such as.....

Plenum powder coated a wrinkle black colour to match the wrinkle black throttle bodies (not in photo) and some other engine parts. The gradient on it is orgasmic.

The valve covers are actually a really nice ferrari red, but these photos make them look a little lighter than what they are. They look sooo much better in person.

Here are only a few other parts I painted wrinkle black myself. They look real nice. The photos definitely dont do it justice.

...and the AMS 2.5 inch catback exhaust system with burnt tips arrived today.

I will be pairing these up with a pair of high flow 100 cell cats and a pair of 2.5 inch divorced style DP's (got these for really cheap, thats why I didn't bother spending a lot more for 3 inch DP's).

Just an update on this build.

The engine has been fully assembled and the car has been in the shop for a little while now.

Here are some photographs of progress.

Calipers rebuilt and painted by myself. Hopefully they hold well.

I've installed the Tein Flex Z Coilovers and new braided brake lines as well as new rotors all round. (Yes I am aware that they are on backward in the photo).[IMG]

Engine and tranny ready to go in from below.
AMS 2.5 intercooler pipes also partially fitted along with a Mishimoto radiator.
