    Hey guys,
Does anyone know how to adapt either the Concept Z performance or Z1 2K spec wiring harness/adaptor to the JDM Z32 TT when fitting the 2K spec headlights?
The wiring adaptors are designed to suit the USA vehicles but not the Jap.

The JDM Z32TT has H3C low beam and H1 High beam.

Do the H3C and H1 plugs get cut and the adaptor wiring is soldered on to them?

    Any ideas?

If that is the harness. Looking at the plugs, I see one saying HI. Assuming the other says LO and that they refer to the car harness side light fittings, I would just cut them and crimp/solder spade connectors and plug them into the Jap harness plugs for HI and LO beams. Rather than cutting the cars harness plugs.

(Side note, looking at my headlights; the H1 globe is in a H4 type adapter , the H4 harness plug though only has two wires connected )

Yeah, the H1 light bulb connector looks like a H4 type but it's H1 light bulb o_O

I took the light bulb out and it looks like this. It's a H4 to H1 adaptor for Hi-beam.

So question remains, for the guys in AU with 2K light install, how have they been wired up?
I feel I'm inventing the wheel again

Sorry to say geron, but afaik your alternatives are limited to.. cut tin join, heat shrink.

I guess it's the only way to go, cut and solder.
    However...
For high beam, there are H4 male & female plugs on ebay. I can make an adaptor harness one end to be male H4 and the other to be whatever plug the harness comes with as supplied with the lights.
    Or...
can just cut of the H4 plug in the car and in it's place solder the appropriate plug to suit the plug of the harness that is supplied with the lights.

For the low beam, cut the H3C plug in the car and in it's place solder a whatever adaptor to suit the LO plug of the harness that is supplied with the lights. No H3C plugs on ebay of any sort. Ideally, a male end H3C plug would be ideal to prevent cutting wires but from what I can see it doesn't exist.

The thing is I don't like bacterizing the OE wiring but then again, it's for the greater good.
I don't know if fitting the 2000 spec lights to an earlier Z will devalue it.

What do you guys think, does such a mod/change devalue the car?
Even though it upgrades the looks and provides better lighting at the same time and is Nissan Authentic.

From memory CZP sell a wiring specialties adapter for the 2k headlights. This or something similar is what I used when I did a set years ago. You have to trace the wiring back to determine what goes to the HID ballast and what goes to the high beam bulb but that's not too hard. Then either use spade connectors to pin into the stock harness and cover with tape (or cut and solder like others have suggested).
The trick is to earth out the HID ballast negative on the body. Since the lights operate on switched power but toggling the high beams switches the earth, your lows will stay on with your highs this way.

I have the 99 spec headlights. I used the diagram below to determine the important polarity of the Xenon ballast. In
particular I double checked the +12v supply and ground on the existing OEM low beam harness connection pins with a multimeter to make sure they weren't reversed to the ballast (green+ and black-).

Excellent diagram AndrewG, Thank you :)

Both Concept Z and Z1 supply the adaptor harnesses made for the US market Zds, they still need to be connected to the J Spec Zs, the wiring provided above let's us understand how the wiring works!

Thank you Gents, another black magic thing demystified.

One important point you need to do with the conversion is to rewire the low beams with relays cor each hi beam so that when you flash you hi beams on your low beams stay on and not turn off. Hid dont like being switched on and off to much at once. Ive got my wiring setup written down on my build thread i can get for you.

For my install, i used spade connectors to connect into the existing oem low beam and hi beam connectors and then made my own harness to incorpate the relay setup i was told to do by another member and the using a female 3 pin plug for the 2k lights i got from a wrecked nissan maxima made my own sub-harness. If i need to revert back i can just pull the spade connectors out and im back to oem.

According to Concept Z performance, it's not necessary to have the low beam modified to stay on while Hi-beam is switched on. It has no impact on the ballast.

Well all i can say is, Ive been told by members on here that to increase the longevity of these hid globes for as long as possible, adding in the relay setup prevents turning the hid globes on and off to much and minimises the chances of blowing the hid globe.

I don't know if its necessary as you said but at of cost $150 per hid globe, i dont want to test the theroy myself.

I have hid's in the low beams on my car, i also have the selin Dual MAF Translator. I hope the translator (for those with the selin) and 2K spec headlights, behave a little better together.

You don't leave the low beam on with highs for the sake of the ballast; you do it so as not to be in the dark (however briefly) when you switch back from high to low.

    IB ?????

What is the selin translator and hid issue? I ran a selin translator for a while with hid low beams and didn't notice any issues.

    Apologies for the thread hijack.

Radiated EMI/RFI, from cheap hid ballast, which caused the translator to stop working, I my case the interference was not from cheap ballasts, phillips are not cheap imo. The interference offcourse only happened when the lights were on, it caused the engine to run on what felt and sounded like 3-4 cylinders, like a sick beatle. There's a full write up on the issue @TTnet.

I should add that the problem only exists with the first gen translators, the second gen translators are insulated against emi rfi interference, tin hats anyone?

    IB ?????

Thanks, I didn't have a first gen translator.

The experience Jim Selin found in tracking down the problem with early Selin dual MAF translators and cheap aftermarket HID kits would put me off using them whether or not you had one of his translators. I have not experienced
any problems (so far) with my 99 spec headlights and MK1 Selin.
