Hi, 1990 2+2 Auto, which trans do I have? Ryco filters has two listed.
    RE4R03A or 4N71B, RE/L4R01A

    IB ?????

After searching this forum, I think the RE4R03A is for the TT and other for NA.

The build plate should state what the car has. It is found next to the right hand radiator mount.... on both of my cars anyway.

For the listeners in - all auto transmissions for our Z32's are Jatco brand.
Nissan Patrol 4WD's of the same era were using the same auto transmissions, they are largely compatible and a lot easier to find and much cheaper to buy at a wreckers.
    NA's have an RE4R01A
    TT's have an RE4R03A
If you really want to break one of these autos you have to work pretty hard but overheating the fluid will do it every time. Ask me how I know...

Why do you need a filter? Its a steel screen. Take it out, wash the crap out of it and refit...

RE4R01A fitted to your car, the RE4R03A's don't have a drain bolt in the sump.

Also, at least with the RE4R03A's in the Patrols they take a different filter kit. Gasket is the same but they have a deeper pickup on the filter as their sump pan is about an inch deeper than the one on the Z32.
