Well guess I better get the ball rolling with the low down on how the Doug Memorial cruise went for the VIC crew last Sunday. As per usual it was another early morning start for everyone at the Todd Road Shell Servo and I was super pumped for the event after nearly a 3 year absences from any meets.

When I arrived at around 7:30ish, I was happy to see a few members had already turned up giving me high hopes for a decent turnout.

One final shot of the members cars who were attending the event (Sorry BigCol), we got a total of 8 Z's which was more then what we were initially expecting for the day with only 4 - 5 members putting their hands up for making the event on the forums.

Soon after we headed off toward's Torquay about an hour or so away. Cruising down the freeway in a convoy of Z's always gets me smiling:)

I managed to grab this quick shot while we waited at the lights.

First stop was Point Danger a scenic lookout spot which the vic crew have visited many times over the years.

Here we could stretch our legs and chat a little before continuing on our journey to Apollo Bay.

We were lucky enough to see the awesome work Alex (badxtc) has done on his Z, showcasing his VR38DETT transplant from a R35 in all its glory. The work Alex has done is amazing and he detail out all of the work he has done himself including the bodywork, electrical etc etc. Not to mention he has gone out of his way to get everything possible put onto an engineer certificate to prevent anyone from trying to defect his Z in the future.

Unfortunately for Alex his thermo fan had mysteriously die on the trip from Todd road and though his data indicated the car was still running cool for operating temperatures. Even so he felt it was best for him to cut this cruise shot and not take a risk going any further which we all agreed was the best course of action for for Alex to take.

Once we got back on the road it was full steam ahead to the GOR and Apollo Bay, we were hopeful traffic along the GOR would be light but like always there are just some people who refuse to pull over and let the Z convey pass. I was part of the main leading group of 4 cars and we got stuck behind a couple of bus's and a Mazda BT50. The bus's eventually let us pass by but the BT50 driver must of been in la la land and we pretty much tailed his arse all the way to Apollo Bay.

When we finally arrived at Apollo Bay thankfully the sun had come out and provided us with beautiful weather for cruising from that point on. We parked the convey in the usual parking strip before heading to lunch at Apollo Bay Hotel for some food and social catching up between the members.

After lunch we headed back to the cars for a for photos before heading off on our last point of call which was inland country twistes;)

To finish off the cruise we headed inland towards Geelong and though I'm not one for high speed twistie runs but I did enjoy the chase of keeping up with the Z pack and then once we reached the main freeway to Geelong we all headed home exhausted after a another stunning Z day out.

I would like to thank Mark (Jedi) for hosting the cruise, you did a fantastic job as always and thank you to the guys on the UHF radios for keeping everyone together throughout the duration of the cruise.

I would also like to thank you to everyone who attended the cruise on the day, I know Doug would be proud and happy to see so many Z's out cruising in memory of him. It was great to see everyone again after so long and I hope the next cruise/event wont be too far away but until next time see you all again soon.

Thanks for the Pics Adam, hope everyone had a great day. The drive to Apollo Bay was a little annoying with all the slow traffic, but the inland roads on the way home were fun :)

Yeah no good here Adam, only your sig photo working.

Was definitely a great day had, despite the dawdle down the Great Ocean Road. Good to give the zed a proper leg stretch & the weather ended up awesome. Just a couple photos from me, really need to try and shoot more next time sorry!
I must say though, the numbers might have dropped over the years but all the zeds coming now (& the other cars too) are really bloody nice, not a single rough one at all!

So from the grey skies of Point Danger in Torquay (none from the start point sorry)
