Yeah doesn't look like anything available currently. Escort racing in Japan do a 2 seater in frp or carbon, could always ask but their stuff isn't cheap. Think Simtec Motorsports in the states used to offer one so could be worth an email?

^local option above could be good though!

thank you sir yeah i seen that looks good actually , i spoke to Simtec Motorsports they dont make full rear, theres is more for full race application , so it half a hatch and screws in the the back , but all good , they also said that the hatch its self is not to bad is more the glass , yes this is understandably he also said i should keep my hatch and lighten it up and changing the glass to lexan , so im waiting on a email to see if they have back to back weights on the hatch itself C/F and stock . no glass. so all in all i would rather lighten up the doors and rear hatch as best we can F/C font gaurds and that MAY be it , also going to get rid of the stock tow hook in the back and go aloy , just like my front . it all helps

Curious, what's the weight saving for a FG hatch? Like badxtc said, I always thought the majority of the weight was in the glass rather than the hatch itself.

Well i got a reply . But nothing to report to be honest.
He did say that he has seen some really heavy fiberglass hatches tho. Just makes me think its just not worth the time.
But i would rather know then not know

Is there anyone in vic thats wants to donate a 2+2 rear hatch lol

I have a rear hatch glass in the shed I could weigh. Then you can weigh your hatch and work out the difference.

At least you'd have a baseline then

thanks mike only if its not to much trouble , my hatch is still on the car , but as well all know its heavy as pluck so something one way or another needs to be done, maybe strat looking in to lexan and lightening up the stock hatch as best we can

Have you already taken the weight out of the hatch Alex? I mean the literal chunk of steel they put in there as a weight.

    It's not really.

    1. Replace the glass with Lexan, you can get it fitted custom fairly easily at most race preppers.
    2. Cut out the interior steel skin of the hatch and remove the ballast weight on the rear

The outer skin of the hatch really weighs very little, do the above and you've cut the weight by 85-90%, and most FG repro's are wet chopped and weigh a heap. Unless you want to spend some real money and get a dry carbon one made up I wouldn't bother.

Apparently there's a time limit on editing a post.

I assume you'll be relocating mass from the front to the back to counteract the amount of weight you're stripping out.
