Thanks guys Colour is stock AH3 cherry red pearl but freshly cut & polished. Can't go lower due to slight dip at end of the driveway but it's a good 'usable' height so I'm happy.
More little bits and pieces. This showed up the other day courtesy of Mr Streeter. Hey presto, Tommy Kaira din guage. Need to sort out sensors but looks to be in good nick. Theres a nice billet alloy, black annodised trim that goes across the front (in corner of pic). Just needs a quick clean up. Had this for a while now but got excited tonight & chucked it in (after a clean!). Did these a little while back too, need to do a few more bits then will swap them on. Smoothed out a balance tube & painted gloss black. Then cleaned up a throttle body set (thanks Robbo!) & hit them with a wrinkle / gloss black combo.
Nah need a plan of attack for the springs, assumed if I painted them the paint would eventually crack as they flex. Might just strip & polish. There's actually no blemishes on them, it's just they're that stock brown finish...
Stock rust finish? They were zinc coated from factory, but tarnish very easily. I painted the springs on my old Z and they held up perfectly.
Haha, ok well tarnished not rust! Might give them a spray then. Forgot the other good news, swapped insurers! Been with Shannon's for ages, swapped to Racv classic vehicle (nrma offer it too) & despite lower excess & increasing agreed value my premium is now close to 70% cheaper! Would recommend
Painted mine silver and they still looked perfect the day I sold the car. So paint is a viable option. But as Rob mentioned, they can also be coated.
Long overdue update time, mainly due to lack of time & anything much happening with the zed. Turns out houses and kids keep you pretty busy... So one thing that had bugged me for ages was my fuca's, my current ones where Hard Race brand generic midori style numbers. Luckily didn't seem to be bending or snapping like others have experienced but did loosen off over time & squeak. Was after the UAS v2's but super hard to find & pretty expensive so I've ended up with a set of the new Gk Tech fuca's. These are their newly released "group A" style arms, they're designed after the ones used by the Gibson Motorsport R32 Gtr's back in the early 90's. This pair is actually their first z32 set, originally supplied to a mate in NSW who elected to keep using his UAS v2's (they provide a bit more clearance when running low) but should be readily available soon enough. Anyway onto the pictures!Un-boxed & on the kitchen table... Should point out they do come with dust boots that were installed before they were fitted on the car. Up on stands trying to get the damn inner fuca bracket off the chassis, two 14mm nuts didn't survive but easily (& cheaply) replaced via nissan & on the shake down drive, the dougie cruise, all survived well! So far seem good & will certainly report back in future with how they're holding up. Old photos should still be viewable with one of the photoshop work around extensions on firefox & chrome but if anyone want's specific photos re-hosted just sing out. Hopefully updates won't be so far apart in future! cheers
Cheers. It's just the spacers at the twin rose jointed end that change, the R32 setup offsets the arms end to end where as the z32 ones are parallel.
Well it's been a long time between updates & I can't believe I'm actually posting this but, the spoilers finally finished! Having started the clay model back in 2012 then moving to Germany for work, coming home, having 2 kids & buying / moving house it's finally done. I'm more than a little bit happy! A "cars, coffee, donuts & Callum" event at work was the inspiration, we've had the global v.p. of design down for a big presentation & our crazy few weeks of mega hours was to culminate with a relaxed arvo in the courtyard, so I thought I can't be showing the zed with a hatch full of holes... Anyway, very happy! cheers
amazing work tim. I've said it before and I'll say it again your sex is one of the best Z32 in the woeld imo and I look forward to seeing your Z again on the next cruise.
