Hey guys, just wanting to get peoples thoughts on a z32 as a time attack car? My beetle project doesnt fit the rule books, so was thinking of alternatives, ie a z32?

Is the UAS monster still up for grabs?

If I did a zed race car. It would be a fully stripped (light) built (target 200kw) NA slick top manual.

    Lo
Lots of work and $$ for a car that will have trouble competing...

If the UAS car is still for sale at approx $40k that would be a good start.

Or you could buy an evo and go faster

If the weekend chatting with various teams and meeting competitors taught me one thing,
It's that apparently a s13 with a aero package designed by a engineer goes fastest lmfao.

From memory the slotcar does a 1:3x around SMP from nationals this year (albeit with some technical difficulties) so could crack into the 1:2x if it was PERFECT but I can't see it getting near the low 120's

As mike said, bang for buck, an evo will get you the best time for dollar invested if you do it right and can drive it.

Would be nice to see a z32 out there however

Don't get me wrong, I love zeds as much or more than the next guy, but facts are, they are expensive to make go fast around circuits, when compared to more modern designs.

Depends what category you want to compete in and what times you want to do. Mid to low 1:40's isn't difficult or expensive, that's where I expect to be running at EC.

As said above, the UAS zed at $40K would be a great starting point if you want to go faster. Low 1:30's, possible to develop into the high 1:20's.

You won't ever get near the low 1:20's in a zed though, just too heavy.

Which time attack series/class do you want to run in? The WTAC rules strongly disadvantage the Z32 because of it's factory weight but the other sprint events will be a bit more accommodating.
