Is it time to sell?

I have had my Zed for quite a few years now and this year she turned 25. Still in great condition and doesn't miss a beat. The problem is I like it that much I keep it covered in the shed and only take it out 1 or 2 times a year. Last year I only had time to do 2 trips of 100 ks . And this year she hasn't been out. Yep it is friggin crazy. I was looking forward to her turning 25 and getting club plates but have finally realised that I won't even have the time to organise that. So now my dilemma is do I keep it wrapped up for the future and really at the moment I'm beginning to feel that I will never see the day that I have time to actually take her out for that cruise down the Great Ocean Road with the top off that I enjoyed so much. Do I sell her and just keep the memories. Years ago when it was sitting uncovered my missus would come home to find me sitting in the passenger seat sucking on a beverage only to ask me why the hell do I not use the car instead of having it sitting in the shed. My response was I didn't want to get it dirty or wear it out . I now wish I had driven it more when I had the time. So really what this is all about is would it be a wise decision to sell it or just leave it wrapped up with the hope that one day I will finally get the time to take it out. I just seems a waste of a great car having it sitting there.
    Cheers
    Dave

Sure sounds like you'd regret selling it! And it's pretty unlikely you'd find one that you'd consider was an equal replacement once you gave in & went hunting for another. You're not ready to sell, you just need a second Z that you have little respect for, the one you leave out in the rain & keeps going sideways when no one else is around :)

i say leave it in the garage . mine can sit there for months on end without taking it out , for me its my play/ toy car not my daily , and im happy with that , selling it would kill me , but when i pull it out with the boys its just amazing, we have a great time , the memories for me are just insane its my getaway, back in 94 when i got it till now it has always been my intention for it not to be my daily, i was lucky tho i always had a place to store it if needed , i am zx thru and thru , nothing can replace it , if you do sell up , there will come a time that you will regret it, so if its a good zed i say store it somewhere and dont say shit , and carry on ,

in my eyes , when i open that garage door and look at it , it blows me away sometime and i think , do i really own that , selling nuh not for me man , it can sit there and rot and rust out till the day i pass but always with me.

keep it man if you can

19 years of ownership for me and much the same, I don't drive it anywhere as much as I should.

I feel my zed is worth so much more than I could sell it for that there is no way I could sell it.:zlove:

Agreed, if you don't need the money or the space hold on to it. Sounds like you love it! There'll be more time to drive it in the future.

sounds like a very well loved zed.

Prices are pretty much as LOW as they could get so this would be the WORST time to sell.

SO to echo what everyone has said, just keep it.

It is only worth something to you.

In the future, that WILL change.

Maybe give it a very slow "back to stock" or even "back to concourse" party if future value are of interest to you.

But if that doesn't float your boat and you love it as it is, then I wouldn't even worry about that.

The jap scene is an interesting one going forward as some people suggest that cars with tasteful modifications in keeping with the era, will actually still sell pretty well in the future as it forms part of the "history" these cars went through.

Dave, I understand your position, as I'm in exactly the same situation.
Although it looks like you do more milage in yours, than I do in mine.
I think I've only had mine out two times in the last two years & that's been to get a pink slip for rego, with a round trip of about twelve kilometres each time.
I decided to sell years ago & haven't been able to bring myself to do it.
These cars are really something special.
I know there will be more car enthusiasts that would disagree with that statement rather than agree.
Those that have never owned one, or never owned one that is excellent condition, would have no idea what a great experience it is.
In any case, as much as I would like to keep it, the time has arrived to get serious about parting with this Z.

Terrible time to sell, they only just started to increase in value (slightly).

90s nostalgia has started to drive prices back up over the past 2 years. Wait another 5 and see what happens.

Since it's a 92 it qualifies for classic vehicle status this year, why not put it on a club permit? You won't care that it doesn't get driven since you get a finite amount of days to use it per year and significantly cheaper than paying full rego and insurance.

I tend to think that the car will never be worth more than it's worth to you, right now. By that I mean if you're not enjoying it then yeah, time to move it along because there'll never be a "logical" reason to hang on to it. But if you still enjoy owning it, you have somewhere to keep it, and you're not in dire need of the money... well you know the answer!

    Great post this...

    I'm in the same boat!!

The Z is such a brilliant machine to me. Mine gets newer and better every year with new parts. It's always garaged and only comes out once in a blue moon, great memories and have met very nice people because of it. Love driving it with roof off :zlove:
Neat examples are worth so much more than the current market price. Much, much more IMO.

I reckon, to sell a well maintained Z32 now, will result in regret.
Especially since these are part of the Z heritage and particularly the Z32TT, is not only one of Nissans "Hi-Performance" line of vehicles but possibly the best Z ever made! IMO
