So I'm planning on replacing the door glass in both doors, due to some unfortunate scratching and damage by some Dynamat within the door...

I've got the new glass on the bench and thinking of getting it tinted before installation. Is this a stupid idea? Or should I get the glass tinted after the glass is installed (am I missing something obvious)?

Also, with the glass installation, what should I replace when installing the new glass? The windows dont really rattle, but while I'm there, I may as wel put some new bits in. But what are those bits that I should replace while the door panels are off?

    Cheers

I would get them tinted first. however be very carefull fitting them if you do as its easy to scratch the tint when sliding them in. next best option to me is to leave interior trims off and get the windows tinted while fitted then. anything that rattles should not be too hard to find and aside from that I cant think of anything that should be replaced just because its convenient to do so.

Yeah tinting would require pulling the door cards off if the tinter actually does it properly. Do it now, save yourself the hassle later.

    also

I would also, while you have the window out, clean all the rails, winding mechanism and gear teeth, then re-grease where you think is needed. Years of dirt, dust and grime tend to clog everything up and make it hard for the window to operate properly.

    This, a thousand times.

Degreaser is your friend, and spray-on lithium grease is perfect for re-lubricating. It also happens to smell delicious...
