    hi guys ,
now that its 2016 and all these new wheels are out with different sizes available to us , lets see what we can fit on the back of the zed ,

so my question is , what are the biggest wheels we can fit in the back , i want to fit 11ns or 12s in the back , my guards have been pushed/rolled out and i've gone about 5 or 10m? out ,
    so if i run a 18x11 45 offset this should fit ,
now i cant really find those sizes , so it seems i would need to get new barrels made up witch is fine i don't mind doing so , but getting a semi right wheel to start with seems to be an issue ,

    the wheels
    18ns only
    must be light weigh
    3 piece
and in the rays brand , i don't really want anything that fake cheap and nasty

    so what have you done,
also please try and be as specific as you can in your size of your wheel and how they fit , photos would be good as well , just to get an idea what it looks like .
i dont mind paying money so long as the job gets done ,

also your opinions on your fave wheels would help as well .
ive have this wheel problem in my head for some time now and i just cant find anything

PLEASE NOTE , the rear steering arm can and will be shifted from its location , so this will also help in fitting larger wheels
    the front i can deal with as i don't see a problem with running 255 tire atm ( 18 x 9.5 33 offset ,) 255 front is good thats enough .

if you have any info even from the usa or anywhere really please let us know . some zed may have had the rear steering are moded in order to fit bigger wheels and this is the plan,

so in my case i have a total of 14 inch from the inner wheel arch to the outer guard , this is not including the rear suspension , that can be shifted as well if need be ,

The sole purpose for this is to put big tires on the car , not for stance and the stretched tire look . in other words i dont want an 11 inch rim to fit a 215 on it,
    i would like to fit , 305 315 325, around there somewhere ( back only )

    OK GO

Benny c currently has a 305 on an 18x10+40ish. Minimal mods required

Yeah I had the them made up. I'll send you a PM.

Re-Benny's combo, pic as per below. I wouldn't say they are too much rubber for a 10, but I wouldn't go anymore.

Only thing I'll add is that you'd think tyre size would be universal, just like waist size in pants etc... But they can and do differ a lot. I've seen 235 wider than a 245 of a different brand tyre. Just worth mentioning.

On paper what you mentioned (18x11+45) should fit.

yeah ive seen that in the past before , it must be the way they measure the tire i dunno , but yeah ,

im sure with the mod of the steering arm we can get more in the back then an 11 , i can almost say a 13 would be the limit ( guess)

i think the best way to attack this would simply be , find some centers that i like and have some barrels made up this way i can maximise the back end , im thinking of all possible angles and the possibility of things going wrong with the squat but ill leave enough for that.

if i make new barrels it may cost a little more but i will get what i want , in this case i will get some second had wheels witch will cost less and go about making the barrels up

most jap three piece wheels have the lip welded to the barrel so bare that in mind.

use this as a reference when changing barrels /lips

    +1" lip = -12.7mm offset
    +.5" lip = -6.35mm offset
    -.5" lip = +6.35mm offset
    -1" lip = +12.7mm offset

    +1" barrel = +12.7mm offset
    +.5" barrel = +6.35mm offset
    -.5" barrel = -6.35mm offset
    -1" barrel = -12.7mm offset

what most do is find a narrow high offset wheel and change lips. So find a wheel with the correct X factor and change either lips or barrels to land at your 11 +45.

also you can get step lips/barrels so say a 17 to 18 for some wheels.

Australian company Whitehorse Industries makes lips and barrels undrilled so you have them drilled to 40 holes or whatever.

also take note if the face is sandwich mount, front mount mount or rear mount.

from what I gather most wheel builds cost $4000 to $8000, when all told with new lips and barrels, hardware, face refurb, cost of used wheels. Depending with what you start with.

Lastly with a 11 +45, to have the same track front and rear you will be looking at a 9.5 +26 front

yeah i believe this is the best option , im not going to get what i want out of i one piece wheel , i think that option is out the window,
so i guess once the car is almost finished ill start looking at moving the steering arm or do something with it m 11inch is do-able but i want more if i can 11 with a 45 offset should not be that hard to achieve in all honesty . i figure to go 12vs would be where the fun starts. other then the suspension i cant see any other issue if 12vs fit up to the suspension well i can live with that . on 12vs with 315 tire or 325 tire? google says that on a 12 inch wheels a 295 to a 325 tire will fit , i guess now its up to whats going to stop the wheels/tires from fitting

    so
12 inch can go to 325
    ( google )
    11,0 inch wheel 275 285 or 295 305
    11,5 inch wheel 285 295 or 305 315
    12,0 inch wheel 295 305 or 315 325
    12,5 inch wheel 305 315 or 325 335
so maybe my goal should be to fit an 11 or 12 in wheel in a 3 piece because 305 to 325 is really ideal for me

Just had my fronts rebarreled completely and rears new lips cost was 1k in total. Rears used old barrells. Just fyi. Also after reassembly have had way too many trips back fixing air leak on 2 wheels.
