what tie rod ends did you end up going with? I have GK Tech bolt on spacers for my drifter and i'm still trying to decide which adjustable outer tie rods to get.
Still running stock with slip on spacers at the moment. Got spl outers coming to go with my bolt on spacers and tein z33 inners. Biggest problem I've had so far is that nothing is really compatible with the alloy z32 knuckles. Also, went out for a run last night, ended up climbing up a big pile of mulch a couple times due to unpredictable steering, need to get my rack fixed asap. Also looking at the wear on my tyres I need to run more camber in the front, wish gktech would hurry up with their stuff.
Have you seen Mathew Samuels Z32 drifter build on the Driftworks site? He makes his own knuckles out of their ones by cutting them up and welding bits onto them. I can't remember what car they're originally from but I'll check.
No but I'd be interested to see what he's doing. Assuming he's using cast or a/m steel knuckles for an r32? Any idea what advantages he's getting by doing that?
He is getting insane amounts of lock. This is his build thread.... http://www.driftworks.com/forum/dri...09788-z32-300zx-twin-turbo-drift-project.html
So, been a little while since I've updated but anyway, I've been getting annoyed by the leaky windscreen (primarily because it was dripping directly over the steering wheel and shifter) so it went in to the body shop to have that fixed. I'm not a fan of fixing rust or panel work so got it done by one of dads work mates. Anyways while it was there this happened... I probably should point out that the 2k headlights are far from perfect, they're both blemished with the paint bubbling inside the housing and would look out of place on a good zed. Perfect for this zed though, and I've always loved the stock 2k look.
What can i say, I needed holes for my smic's. Also, stock bar looks a bit dated on its own. If I didn't go this route it'd be a tt bar with stillen lip I think. Thanks, but internet photos work wonders at hiding bad stuff. Drift car only needs to look good from a distance anyway.
Despite what Ryan says, you're so right. This drift car is so much cleaner than most zeds that get around!
Update Well, it's been more than 2 years since my last update. I've still been working on the zed but progress has really slowed down. Lots of other things have happened and unfortunately the zed hasn't been given as much attention as I'd have liked. I'm now going to try and get everything sorted in the next few months to really get back in to drifting next year. Will I be able to get it all done in time? Who knows. This is what has happened so far anyway. Bought and fitted some Parts Shop Max 12/10kg coils as well as a 26mm usdm TT rear sway bar. I found for what I was doing the teins were just a little bit too soft. Downside is the ride is far harsher on the road but that was to be expected. New wheels are CST Zero One Hyper's in 18x9.5 +15. Rear fitment is pretty good, rim sticks out a tiny bit but with a 235 stretched over it fits nicely under the guard. Have fitted Parts Shop Max adjustable front LCA's and added 40mm of length from memory. Front UCA bolt in camber correction shims have got the camber at about 3deg from memory and fairly flush with the guards. Fronts sit a bit higher than the rear at the moment as after fitting the UCA shims the camber reduction made it sit a bit higher. Planning to put some more camber in by lengthening the lowers a bit more eventually which should also bring the height down. Finally pulled out my cluster to fix the solder joints on my speedo that would drop out randomly. Finally got around to dying some more of my interior bits black as well. I didn't think it came out too bad for about 60 bucks and an afternoons work. This panel was originally dyed around two years ago and shows the level of fade and dust it has picked up. Managed to break my handbrake while the interior was apart, so I fit a drift button to it that I had sitting around. Can't say that I'm a huge fan of it but eh, whatever. Also got a steel Carbing strut brace for the front. And started fitting up an engine bay dress up kit that I got from RGS performance. Finally picked up my seats and fitted them. And still slowly working on my other engine.
Note, those Recaros were sitting under my house for a full years (after payment) waiting for Ryan to come get them...
