Okay, the targa has leaked for ages and I'm tidying the car up a bit while it is off the road for three months. I ran out of demerit points, and now I have a holiday. It can't be too hard to replace the door and targa seals, but where do I get them and how much are they going to cost? Cheers.
Your right its not that hard............... JUST EXPENSIVE http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...r_Type=NIS300&UID=20110723194911203.134.22.86 [TIS] http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...r_Type=NIS300&UID=20110723194911203.134.22.86 [TIS] Then when you think it can't get any worse you get this http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...r_Type=NIS300&UID=20110723194911203.134.22.86 http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...r_Type=NIS300&UID=20110723194911203.134.22.86 add postage on top of it and you don't get much chnage from $700
Got mine from Coz (www.conceptzperformance.com) - along with so much other great stuff! With the aussie dollar so strong these days, I doubt you could get them any cheaper through a Nissan dealership here in Oz.
I suggest before getting rubber seal's pull apart the entire targa, clean and use black silicon to rebond the seals inside, I done this to actually silicon my weather strips nicely to the targa after a sand and spray, and noticed that some water can manage to get inside and leak through places as the original rubber strips that are used to seal between each part break down a little over time. After doing this, I got an extra bonus I did not expect, water no longer leaks in through the rear corner of my window, even with the window guide broken, and the window sitting out. even after a few days of heavy rain in sydney! Also, with your targa's off, you will see 2 holes as in the picture below, clean around them, make sure there is no gunk build up, use something like a small screwdriver, a metal squer or anything else you have on hand to push down and gently free up and stuff that may be built up inside, then get a hose, and using it on high pressure and jamming it up against the metal, spray down the hole and flush out all the crap down the drainage. chances are that water is pooling up in there and leaking which will make water leaks into your car worse!
Try to get hold of an old speedo cable(usually about 2.5-3mm thick)and use it as a "push-thru" for cleaning-out the drain tube. Works very well!
lol I'll try that. I looked at the hole at the top and it looked clear so I didn't bother doing anything. Guess I'll have to make an effort now. Cheers
the water should run down really fast. with mine, i can use a hose and keep trying to fill the cannal part with water, as fast and i can, and the drain is able to take the water away fast enough so it dosnt build up.
Also make sure your windows are actually closing to a level thats appropriate, when I broke my window earlier and replaced it I found that the stoppers even though oin the original location caused the window to sit 3-4 mm lower and it leaked really bad. just something to check.
