well the title describes it all

my velocity stack's filter fell off whilst driving to work, now i know how bad it is to run without filtration, ESP in the rain

what can i use to limp me home? or just run it un-filtered but take it easy?

also for anyone asking how on earth that could have happened....

the velocity stacker is a trumpet, with the filter sitting over that, and held on with a hose clamp... sounds stupid i know, but it was a massive piss off pothole that caused it to drop off... even snapped one of the bolts in my nose panel :(

Probably better to happen in the wet as not as much dust in the air :D. If you have the filter maybe cable tie or tape of some sort to get you home. If no filter start an office romance and score her panty hose or knickers and use them .

this is true, but i want to keep running the velocity stack, and i doubt that the apexi filter would fit over the trumpet

(the filter that fell off had an opening of 6-7inches for the trumpet to sit in)

    ^^ Velocity stacks

How many Hi-clones do you run Zac?

That trumpet is doing SFA sitting there like that, especially so given how low that filter hangs (sticks out like dogs balls). No amount of velocity stacks / or a trumpet will recoup losses from that thing being buffetted by wind and the draft from other cars on the road. The restrictions to flow lie elsewhere in the system - I'd be looking at the accordian pipes on the NA for a start....

The stock airbox has a trumpet integral to the box, so does the apexi filter, if you really must go down that path.

nope, they actually work great with fuel injected cars, ive noticed a difference between the apexi ram pod, and the velocity stack, but each to their won

i guess im lucky i removed the accordian pipes and got hard pipes.

i understand everyone has their own theories and such on pod filters/varients, and their effectivness on everyones car.

i personally have noticed a change in responsiveness(SP?), and a nice change to the exhaust note

the filter it self sits low, but the trumpet sits high, basically 1 inch off the AFM

Trumpets do work, they can improve the losses into a open pipe by quite a lot. However I'm not sure of the benefits in this application. IMO leave them to ITB's.
